Land conservation and preservation
During 2020 the Rochester Land Trust continued stewardship of 753 acres of conservation land owned and under conservation restrictions at the beginning of 2020. Also in October 2020 the Rochester Land Trust was granted a conservation restriction by the Coalition for Buzzards Bay on 221 acres of land on Old Middleboro Road in Rochester. The Coalition for Buzzrds Bay acquired the land from the developer of an adjacent solar array. In turn the Coalition granted the conservation restriction to the Land Trust as a form of double protection. The parcel is mostly forested and will be permanently protected as conservation land in keeping with the Land Trust's mission.
