Organizations Filed Purposes: To serve low-income, under-employed, and formerly incarcerated individuals residing in Boston's economically depressed areas. BWA is organized and operated for the relief of the poor, the distressed, and the under-privileged by eliminating employment discrimination against individuals stemming from the use of Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI). .

BWA maintained multiple committee meetings for residents within BWA's target demographic to discuss solutions to various social and economic issues. Discussions, learning, and planning took place with a focus on criminal justice reform, access and opportunities for "good jobs," and housing reforms focused on stemming the tide of gentrification.

A job placement program for under and unemployed urban workers. In 2014, BSA was able to provide temporary employment opportunities for over 50 individuals within our target demographic. These jobs ranged in a number of sectors, including temporary conference staffing, manual labor jobs, and food service/event management. BSA also provided job skills training and job readiness support to ensure high rates of success and retention, when applicable.
