CATHOLIC CHARITIES' MISSION IS TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE AND HOPE TO FAMILIES IN NEED, BUILDING A JUST AND COMPASSIONATE SOCIETY ROOTED IN THE DIGNITY OF ALL PEOPLE. CATHOLIC CHARITIES' MISSION IS TO SERVE THE POOR AND TO BUILD A JUST AND COMPASSIONATE SOCIETY ROOTED IN THE DIGNITY OF ALL PEOPLE. THE ORGANIZATION SERVES OVER 165,000 MEMBERS OF THE GREATER BOSTON COMMUNITY WITH COMPREHENSIVE SERVICES INCLUDING: CHILDCARE AND FAMILY SERVICES, EDUCATION AND TRAINING, AND BASIC NEEDS SUPPORT.
CATHOLIC CHARITIES PROVIDES CHILDCARE FOR FAMILIES IN BOTH CENTER-BASED AND FAMILY CHILDCARE SETTINGS. THE ORGANIZATION SERVES OVER 1,000 CHILDREN OF ALL FAITHS IN THE GREATER BOSTON AREA, WITH INFANT AND TODDLER CARE, PRE-SCHOOL, KINDERGARTEN, AND AFTER SCHOOL SERVICES. ALL PROGRAMS ARE LICENSED BY THE MASSACHUSETTS DEPARTMENT OF EARLY EDUCATION AND CARE (EEC), AND ARE NAEYC ACCREDITED. OVER 90% OF THE CHILDREN ENROLLED WITH CATHOLIC CHARITIES QUALIFY AS INCOME ELIGIBLE AS DEFINED BY THE COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS AND ARE FUNDED THROUGH EEC. THE CENTER-BASED CHILDCARE LOCATIONS INCLUDE INFANT/TODDLER, PRE-SCHOOL, AND KINDERGARTEN PROGRAMS IN SOUTH BOSTON, DORCHESTER, JAMAICA PLAIN, LYNN, PEABODY, AND MALDEN. THE FAMILY CHILDCARE NETWORKS SERVE THE COMMUNITIES OF MALDEN, LYNN, PEABODY, SALEM, BEVERLY, CAMBRIDGE, SOMERVILLE, EVERETT, AND MEDFORD. AFTER-SCHOOL SERVICES ARE OFFERED AT THE PEABODY AND LABOURE CHILDCARE CENTERS FOR CHILDREN AGES 5-13. AFTER SCHOOL CENTERS ARE OPEN YEAR-ROUND, WITH EXTENDED HOURS IN THE SUMMER AND DURING SCHOOL VACATIONS.
CATHOLIC CHARITIES PROVIDES COMMUNITY BASED SERVICES IN THE GREATER BOSTON AREA WITH FOOD AND BASIC NEEDS ASSISTANCE, FAMILY SUPPORT AND OUTREACH, REFUGEE AND IMMIGRATION SERVICES, EMERGENCY SHELTER, AFTERSCHOOL YOUTH PROGRAMS, INTERPRETER SERVICES, AND EDUCATION AND TRAINING PROGRAMS. EDUCATION AND TRAINING PROGRAMS INCLUDE: CERTIFIED NURSE ASSISTANT (CNA) TRAINING, ENGLISH FOR SPEAKERS OF OTHER LANGUAGES (ESOL), HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY TEST (HI-SET) PREPARATION, COMPUTER LITERACY TRAINING, AND JOB READINESS. AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMMING IS OFFERED AT ST. PETER'S TEEN CENTER IN DORCHESTER AND AT THE SHAUGHNESSY CENTER AT LABOURE IN SOUTH BOSTON. DURING THE SUMMER, SUNSET POINT CAMP IN HULL, MASS PROVIDES WEEK-LONG OVERNIGHT CAMP FOR OVER 400 CHILDREN FROM THE GREATER BOSTON AND BROCKTON AREAS. REFUGEE AND IMMIGRATION SERVICES INCLUDE INTERPRETER SERVICES, LEGAL ASSISTANCE, AND REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT. THESE COMMUNITY SERVICES ARE PROVIDED TO CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR SUSTAINABLE SELF SUFFICIENCY FOR OUR CLIENTS, OFFERING A VIABLE PATH OUT OF POVERTY. THROUGH OUTREACH, BASIC NEEDS ASSISTANCE, EDUCATION, SHELTER, YOUTH SERVICES, AND IMMIGRATION PROGRAMS, CATHOLIC CHARITIES SERVED OVER 165,000 PEOPLE IN THE GREATER BOSTON COMMUNITY DURING FISCAL YEAR 2019.
CATHOLIC CHARITIES FAMILY COUNSELING AND GUIDANCE CENTERS IN DANVERS, SALEM, SOUTH BOSTON AND LYNN, OFFER A FULL ARRAY OF CLINICAL SERVICES PROVIDED BY A HIGHLY TRAINED AND DEVOTED STAFF OF MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELORS. THE PROGRAMS PROVIDE TREATMENT AND COUNSELING FOR CHILDREN, ADOLESCENTS AND ADULTS STRUGGLING WITH LIFE ISSUES, SUBSTANCE ABUSE, MENTAL HEALTH NEEDS, FAMILY AND PARENTING SUPPORT NEEDS AND DUAL DIAGNOSIS. THERAPY IS OFFERRED TO INDIVIDUALS, COUPLES, AND FAMILIES AND IS PROVIDED BY MASTERS LEVEL CLINICIANS SUPERVISED BY A MULTI-DISCIPLINARY TREATMENT TEAM. CATHOLIC CHARITIES SERVED 828 PEOPLE IN THE FAMILY COUNSELING AND GUIDANCE PROGRAMS DURING FY 2019.
