The program includes research and development of low-cost equipment and training of medical staff in under-resourced areas. The program is currently being implemented in Kenya and India. ESM-NIRB is expected to reduce newborn mortality by 50%. market based approach, targeting the poorest of the poor. ESM-UBT is now saving lives every day in over 20 countries.
Ujenzi provided continuing support for the "Every Second Matters - Uterine Balloon Tamponade" (ESM-UBT) initiative, a package of supplies and training to educate health workers in resource-poor settings on postpartum hemmorage care, the leading pregancy related killer worldwide. The ESM-UBT protocol has been adopted as best practice by the World Health Organization and is deployed in over 20 countries around the world.
Ujenzi supports the continuing work of Massachusetts General Hospital division of Global Health and Human Rights at Sagam Hospital, Kenya, providing funds for education, medical supplies and travel.
