ITEGA seeks to research, develop, test, adopt and /or promote technology and business standards for governing the exchange of information about Internet users, their activities and purchases
Its general purpose is to pursue the charitable and public purposes of lessening the burdens of government and promoting the global public interest in the operational stability of the Internet
Consistent with the Organizations mission see part III, Line 1, the Shared User Network Program convened and prepared meetings, reports and webinars, involving more than 100 people, and related reports, to agree on a common statement on user privacy and to define, develop and plan testing of tools for protecting privacy of user data, initially in the news sector. Initial tool aims to foster an open digital-information marketplace that respects user privacy and trustworthy identity, and include developing a federated single sign on SSO service and an anonymous user data exchange service. Among objectives of these efforts are to a help quality publishers improve the relevance and value of advertising through deeper knowledge about their users collective interests and b create a public-interest internet ecosystem consisting of an individual fast pass for accessing and supporting or paying for trustworthy information.
