THESE INCLUDED 244 HEALTH CARE (PRIMARILY MEDICAID RELATED) CASES, 251 CASES CONCERNING FOOD ASSISTANCE AND INCOME SUPPORT PROGRAMS, 5 CASES CONCERNING EMPLOYMENT ISSUES, 67 CASES CONCERNING HOUSING AND UTILITY MATTERS, 18 CASES CONCERNING CONSUMER ISSUES, AND 64 CASES INVOLVING EDUCATION OR FAMILY ISSUES. HEALTH CARE: IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE REPRESENTATION NOTED IN 4A, PERFORMS LEGAL RESEARCH, PUBLIC POLICY ANALYSIS, AND DEVELOPS STRATEGIES TO IMPROVE ACCESS TO HEALTH CARE FOR PEOPLE WITH LOW-INCOME AT THE STATE LEVEL. SPECIFIC STATE ACTIVITIES INCLUDING PROVIDING EDUCATION ON THE BENEFITS OF MEDICAID, PRESERVING AND INCREASING MEDICAID ACCESS, AND PROMOTING THE VALUE OF GOOD HEALTH THROUGH MEDICAID AVAILABILITY FOR 257,000 MEDICAID ENROLLEES, AND INCREASING AWARENESS OF AND HELPING PEOPLE APPLY FOR MEDICAID EXPANSION.
TANF AND PARENTS AS SCHOLARS: IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE REPRESENTATION NOTED IN 4A, PERFORMS LEGAL RESEARCH AND PUBLIC POLICY ANALYSIS, AND DEVELOPS STRATEGIES TO IMPROVE TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE FOR NEEDY FAMILIES (TANF) MAINE'S PUBLIC BENEFIT PROGRAM FOR LOW-INCOME FAMILIES WITH DEPENDENT CHILDREN. SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES INCLUDE SUSTAINING BENEFITS FOR MORE THAN 4319 FAMILIES RECEIVING TANF, INCLUDING MORE THAN 7739 CHILDREN, AS WELL AS IMPROVING ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSES, AND INCREASING ACCESS TO ECONOMIC SUPPORT PROGRAMS.
