THE MISSION OF THE ELLSWORTH HISTORICAL SOCIETY SHALL BE TO COLLECT, PRESERVE AND INTERPRET OBJECTS, DOCUMENTS, ARCHAEOLOGICAL MATERIALS AND SPECIMENS WHICH ILLUSTRATE THE HISTORY OF THE CITY OF ELLSWORTH AND ITS ENVIRONS, TO MAKE THEM AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC FOR EDUCATION AND RESEARCH PURPOSES.
THE MUSEUM IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC DISPLAYING THE OLD JAIL AND SHERIFFS HOME BUILT IN 1886. THE MUSEUM ALSO DISPLAYS THE ARTIFACTS, DOCUMENTS AND MEMORABILIA WHICH ILLUSTRATE THE HISTORY OF ELLSWORTH.
THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY HOSTS SPEAKERS AND EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR REGARDING LOCAL HISTORY.
