Land conservation and conservation education.
Maintained and updated files and filing system, insurance policies, and the board continued to adopt/uphold policies as predicated by Land Trust Standards and Practices. Processed all incoming mail and email requests. Entered donor's information into the database, promptly recognized donations in accordance with IRS standards, and performed daily back-up of the system. Volunteer and board members successfully stewarded or monitored all 50 existing properties held in either fee or easement by FCT. Filed monitoring reports for each property with the ME Conservation Easement Registry Annual report. . Hired outreach and education coordinator to support outreach in community and programming such as hikes etc. and elementary school support to get kids in nature and field trips. Our school programming has brought conservation and nature education to more than 900 students in our public school as well as children in our local private pre-schools. Maintained geo-caching sites on properties and kiosks. Maintained several large kiosks and trails on properties. Held free public events for citizens of Falmouth during 2018 including races, hikes, snowshoe events (approximately 35 attendees), a movie in the park (over 100 attendees), and Great Maine Outdoor walks. Also, continued to restore agriculture to Hurricane Valley Farm through farm plots for summer and training programs for entrepreneurs who are seeking to grow their expertise in farm-based production.
