Organizations Filed Purposes:
We support the self-determination of Wabanaki people through education, truth-telling, restorative justice, and restorative practices in Wabanaki and Maine communities. We design our structures and processes to be responsive to Wabanaki communities and beneficial to Wabanaki people.
Wabanaki Wellbeing -We support Wabanaki wellbeing through education, by building and celebrating community, reclaiming Wabanaki ways, and protecting the Earth we share. We support Native inmates in Maine prisons in a variety of ways including a written newsletter; we provide education and engage in activities that build the capacity of Wabanaki people to feed their families and communities; we hold our annual Wabanaki Wellness for Wabanaki people and friends to come together to nurture our relations, make new connections, spark new ideas, and highlight the brilliant knowledge of Wabanaki; and we engage Wabanaki youth in circle processes and have created web space for Wabanaki youth to share their thoughts, hopes, dreams, aspirations, and experiences of truth, healing, and change. We are establishing a program to provide low-barrier, one-time financial assistance to Wabanaki families during the pandemic.
Educational Programs, Events & Resources -We seek to build a broader and stronger community of people who understand the long term impact of the generational harms done to Indigenous people since first contact. We offer educational programs, collaborate with communities to host educational events, create resource lists, produce a monthly radio show, publish a biannual newsletter and engage the public in a monthly blog Voices of Decolonization.
