Organizations Filed Purposes: Conserve natural resources and provide for open space, public access, and education.

Prepared two preserves for public use. The first preserve is the Ingalls Pond Preserve on the Saco River in Baldwin Maine. FSHT secured permits, built trails, and erected signs. The second preserve is the Riverside Family Trails in Cornish, Maine, also along the Saco River. FSHT performed environmental hazard studies, secured the purchase of the land, cleaned up trash, solicited local public comments on the project, and laid out trails. This is an ongoing project into 2020.

Provided stewardship, education, and outreach on approximately 1,400 acres of land in and around Limington, Limerick, Baldwin, Porter, and Cornish, Maine. These properties conserve natural resources and provide for public access, enjoyment, and education. Stewardship included land taxes, and trail maintenance. The statewide recognized resource has an estimated 5,000 visitors a year, including school groups. Outreach included distributing 1,000 free hiking maps to the public, all to encourage hiking in the area. Granted $1,282 to the towns of Limington, Limerick, and Porter as Payments In Lieu of Taxes (PILOT). The organization also paid local property taxes of $2,795 in Limerick, Baldwin, and Cornish even though the organization could be technically exempted from such taxes. Offered guided hikes.

Continued our education outreach to local schools "Developing a Sense of Place: Introducing Second Graders to Protected Lands in Their Communities" and our program "Water Literacy" for additional older classes. The programs paid for the bussing of students with their teachers and community volunteers from two different Maine school districts to various protected parcels. Students were instructed both in the classroom and on the field trips by a professional educators and an animal tracker who helped them to identify animal signs and water quality issues and local fish populations. Second grade students traveled twice to each parcel, once in the fall and a second time in the winter on snowshoes. Approximately 468 students and 60 volunteers took part.
