Tribal Leadership VAWA Conference, Oct 2019, Expenses of $24,460.42 (no revenue)This was the 4th Annual 2-Day Tribal Leadership Summit. Over 60 people attended this included TribalGovernment, Tribal Law Enforcement, Tribal Court, Lawyers, Tribal Advocates and invited non-tribal lawenforcement, lawyers, advocates, and program manager from the Office on Violence Against Women (WWCFunder). The focus of the 2 days was on improving the response to the crimes of domestic and sexual violencein the Wabanaki Tribal communities. All cost of the travel for the participants was funded through the OVWgrant.
Survivor's Retreat, Oct 2019, Expenses of $14,818.94 (no revenue)This was the 6th Annual Survivors Retreat. It was attended by 38 people. Each of the five Wabanaki AdvocacyCenters brought survivors from their community for this 3 day weekend retreat. All expenses for their travel,lodging and meals were covered by WWC through the OVW grant. The weekend retreat is held at an outdoorretreat facility. The retreat includes Wabanaki cultural activities which included healing circles led by aPassamaquoddy Spiritual Leader. The participants each made a Fringed Shawl that they now own and can wearat their community events.
40 Hour Advocate Training, October-November 2019, Expenses of $6,337.00 (no revenue)This 5 consecutive day training institute was held for advocates from the 5 Wabanaki Tribal Advocacy Centers:Micmac, Maliseet, Penobscot Nation, Passamaquoddy at Indian Township, Passamaquoddy at PleasantPoint. The trainer was the WWC ED so there were no consultant fees. Their transportation costs, lodging, andper diem were paid by the WWC.
