We provide access to health and wellness services for low-income uninsured or under-insured members of our community. Using both staff and volunteers, we deliver primary medical care, dental hygiene, restorative dental services, prescription assistance, and counseling/wellness services. Provide uninsured and under-insured populations with access to quality medical, dental, prescription, and mental health and wellness services through a network of largely volunteer providers.
Primary Care Medical Services: While we had to temporarily suspend our weekly clinics due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we continued to support our patients through telephone and virtual means until we could make the necessary adjustments to re-open our clinic to in-person visits. Even so, we held 37 clinics with 379 patients visits in 2020. Each session is staffed by 2 or 3 providers, 2 nurses, a social worker or counselor, and a receptionists as well as a greeter/escort for COVID screening. Our usual volunteers who offer such services as massage therapy, stress reduction, physical therapy, acupuncture, respiratory therapy were limited by the pandemic. The clinic is held in space donated by another medical practice located in the same building as our business offices. Staffing of the medical clinic was provided largely by volunteers. Estimated value of patient services provided: $75,188. Estimated value of donated professional services: $49,958. Estimated value of donated space & support: $29,700.
Preventative/Restorative Dental Care: This program was significantly ipacted by the pandemic, necessitating closing the offices until appropriate modification could be done to allow for safely continuing services. Even so, we had 534 hygiene visits with 86 of them children. In addition, we had 274 visits with a dentist, and 21 of those were children. We also completed 9 denture cases. Hygienist services are provided by our own employees using our own equipment in donated space. The clinic subsidizes the cost of restorative services provided through an unaffiliated dental practice. Other services are provided by independent volunteer dentists. Estimated value of patient services provided: $164,280. Estimated value of donated professional services: $122,880. Estimated value of donated space and support: $54,000.
Prescription Assistance: This program along provided services valued at $1,412,268 in 2020 by working with patients and other medical practices to obtain free medications through programs offered by pharmaceutical companies. We have served over 1750 patients over the years with61 new patients in 2020. Of the active patients, 31% are from our own medical practice and 68% from other providers. In addition, we have helped many clients with medication not available through these programs by providing information on pricing alternatives and through coupons. We've also helped folks through the application process for the insurance marketplace, gathered and given away other personal supplied and food items through local gleanings. This program is operated by a single, part-time employee. Estimated value of services provided: $1,412,268. Estimated value of donated space and services: $8,300.
