WE FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT ART AND CULTURE HAVE THE POWER TO ENRICH LIVES, STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY BONDS, AND SERVE AS AN ECONOMIC ENGINE. WE PROMOTE AND SUPPORT ARTS EDUCATION, EXHIBITIONS, THEATRE, FILM, MUSIC, AND DANCE THAT IS ACCESSIBLE TO ALL RESIDENTS AND VISITORS. BY HELPING TO BUILD A CREATIVE ECONOMY, WATERVILLE CREATES IS LEADING THE EFFORT TO MAKE WATERVILLE AN EXCITING CULTURAL DESTINATION AND A THRIVING, VIBRANT COMMUNITY.

TO ENHANCE THE CREATIVE AND ARTISTIC VITALITY OF OUR COMMUNITY THROUGH OUTSTANDING ARTS EDUCATION AND EXHIBITIONS AND COLLABORATIVE EVENTS AND PROGRAMS. IN 2019, THE COMMON STREET ARTS GALLERY HOSTED 6 EXHIBITIONS, INCLUDING YOUTH ART MONTH, AND A FULL SCHEDULE OF ART CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS FOR PEOPLE OF ALL AGES AND ABILITIES. WATERVILLE CREATES ALSO COORDINATED AND SUPPORTED NUMEROUS COLLABORATIVE COMMUNITY EVENTS AND PROGRAMS, INCLUDING ARTS IN BLOOM, ART IN THE PARK, WATERVILLE ROCKS, JOY TO THE VILLE, AND SLICE (STUDENTS LEARNING INNOVATIVE CREATIVE ENDEAVORS).

TO ENHANCE QUALITY OF LIFE AND BUILD COMMUNITY THROUGH THE PERFORMING ARTS. THE 810-SEAT WATERVILLE OPERA HOUSE PRESENTS YEAR-ROUND THEATRE, DANCE, CONCERTS, AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING FOR AUDIENCES OF ALL AGES. WATERVILLE CREATES BEGAN OVERSEEING THIS PROGRAM ACTIVITY ON NOVEMBER 1, 2018 AFTER ACQUIRING THE WATERVILLE OPERA HOUSE. 2019 PROGRAMMING HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE PRODUCTIONS OF THE WIZARD OF OZ AND NEWSIES, LIVE BROADCASTS FROM THE METROPOLITAN OPERA, AND LIVE CONCERTS BY JONNY LANG, GRAHAM NASH, POST MODERN JUKEBOX, SHEMEKIA COPELAND, AND THE DAVID BROMBERG QUINTET.

TO EDUCATE, ENTERTAIN, AND BUILD COMMUNITY THROUGH FILM. CELEBRATING THE ART OF CINEMA AND INSPIRING A LOVE FOR FILM, THE MAINE FILM CENTER OPERATES THE NATIONALLY-RENOWNED RAILROAD SQUARE CINEMA, PRESENTS THE 10-DAY MAINE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, AND HOSTS IMPACTFUL FILM EXHIBITIONS AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS. WATERVILLE CREATES BEGAN OVERSEEING THIS PROGRAM ACTIVITY ON NOVEMBER 1, 2018 AFTER ACQUIRING THE MAINE FILM CENTER. 2019 PROGRAMMING HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDED DAILY SCREENINGS OF TOP-RATED INDEPENDENT FILMS SUCH AS JUDY AND PARASITE, THE MAINE STUDENT FILM & VIDEO CONFERENCE, A STATEWIDE FILM SERIES HONORING JOHN FORD, AND THE ENERGY/EXHAUSTION FILM SERIES.
