TO SHARE THE LOVE OF JESUS CHRIST THROUGHOUT THE WORLD THROUGH THE AVENUES OF PRAYER, PROCLAMATION AND PROVISION.
THE ONSET OF COVID-19 RESULTED IN COMMUNITY OUTREACH AFTER THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF STARFISH CAFE. WE CONTINUED ADULT MINISTRIES: LIFE COACHING, SPIRITUAL FORMATION, LISTENING, REFERRAL RESOURCES FOR SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND HEALTH RELATED MATTERS. WE PARTNERED WITH THE KINGS KITCHEN TO PROVIDE A VOUCHER FOOD DISTRIBUTION IN CONJUNCTION WITH FEEDING AMERICA. WE ALSO SUPPLIED GOODS AND SERVICES TO THE KINGS KITCHEN. WE PROVIDED TRAINING FOR VOLUNTEERS AND INSTRUCTION ON SERV-SAFE PROTOCOLS FOR OPERATION OF THE KITCHEN. WE ALSO ASSISTED RESIDENTS AFTER THE TROPICAL STORMS AND HURRICANES. WE ASSISTED THOSE WITH HOUSEHOLD REPAIRS. WE ALSO HELPED PEOPLE FILL OUT THE UNEMPLOYMENT AND SBA APPLICATIONS RELATED TO UNEMPLOYMENT. WE ALSO PROVIDED MEALS FOR THOSE WITH HEALTH ISSUES BY DELIVERING MEAL TAILORED TO THEIR HEALTH ISSUES.
WE SERVED 850 HOUSEHOLDS WITH FOOD FURNISHED BY FEEDING AMERICA. WE SUPPLIED ADULT MINISTRIES: STARFISH CAFE, PROVIDING LIFE AND JOB SKILLS FOR 1 INDIVIDUAL THIS YEAR, WHO WAS HIRED AS AN APPRENTICE FOR THE PROGRAM. THE APPRENTICE ALSO WORKED ALONGSIDE THE KINGS KITCHEN TRAINING VOLUNTEER STAFF. ONE STUDENT RETURNED TO THE PROGRAM DURING COVID-19 AND WE FACILITATED HER RETURN TO THE TEEN CHALLENGE PROGRAM. WE PORVIDED COOKING CLASSES TO A LOCAL SEA BEES INDIVIDUAL. WE PROVIDED COMMUNITY OUTREACH TO THOSE IN NEED OF FOOD, CLOTHING AND ASSISTANCE WITH HOME AND UTILITY EXPENSES. PROVIDED WELLNESS AND HEALTH INFROMATION TO THE COMMUNITY, HEALTH RELATED COOKING CLASSES, AND COMPLIMENTARY HEALTH INFORMATION THROUGH OUR COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKER.
RAY OF HOPE- A COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAM TO PROVIDE SUPPORTIVE RESILIENCY MEASURES FOR INDIVIDUALS AS REFERRED TO FOR THE CHALLENGES OF CANCER, EFFECTS OF DISASTERS, LIFE ALTERING ILLNESS, AND ACCIDENTS. SUPPORTIVE MEASURES INCLUDE PROVIDING PERSONAL ASSISTANCE FOR NEEDS, MEAL PREPARATION, PEER LISTENING AND PROVIDING AFFECTED PERSONS A PLACE TO TALK ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCES. LIMITED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR PEOPLE EXPERIENCING FINANCIAL HARDSHIP RELATED TO ILLNESS OR DISEASE. ASSISTANCE IN PAPERWORK AND RESOURCE REFERRAL FOR FINANCIAL RESOURCES. WE ASSISTED IN RAISING MONEY FOR A PERSON RECEIVING CANCER THERAPY. DURING COVID-19 WE PROVIDED OVER 500 MEALS TO THE ELDERLY AND THOSE WITH HEALTH CONDITIONS SUCH AS DIABETES, HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AND DID PERSONAL HOME VISITS. WE ALSO MADE BI-WEEKLY VISITS AND DID SHOPPING FOR THOSE WHO WERE AT HIGH RISK TO BE EXPOSED TO COVID. WE ASSISTED RETIRED PEOPLE WITH HOME REPAIRS INCLUDING REDOING A BATHROOM DAMAGED FROM TERMITES. WE ALSO ASSITED CHRIST EPISCOPAL AND CENTRAL BIBLE CHURCH WITH REPAIRS AFTER HURRICANE ZETA. OUR FOCUS FOR 2020 BECAME MORE RELATED TO DISASTER RELIEF AS A RESULT OF COVID-19 AND MULITIPLE STORMS THAT CAUSED A RECURRENCE OF MEMORIES AND ANXIETY RELATED TO KATRINA IN 2005.
