Organizations Filed Purposes: TO PROMOTE, ENCOURAGE, AND ASSIST ALL FORMS OF EDUCATION, RESEARCH, AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CONDUCTED BY THE FIFTEEN COMMUNITY AND JUNIOR COLLEGES IN THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI BY RECEIVING, SOLICITING, ACCEPTING, AND ADMINISTERING FUNDS FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES.

TO PROMOTE AND ENCOURAGE EDUCATION IN MISSISSIPPI PUBLIC COMMUNITY AND JUNIOR COLLEGES.

MISSISSIPPI ALTERNATE PATH TO QUALITY SCHOOL LEADERSHIP (MAPQSL):THE MAPQSL TRAINING INSTITUTE HAS PROVEN TO BE AN EFFECTIVE PROGRAM TO PREPARE EDUCATORS TO BECOME LICENSED ADMINISTRATORS. THE PROGRAM FOCUSES ON TRAINING EDUCATORS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN BECOMING ADMINISTRATORS IN SCHOOL DISTRICTS ACROSS THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI. SINCE THE PROGRAM WAS IMPLEMENTED IN 2005, APPROXIMATELY 1,350 PARTICIPANTS HAVE COMPLETED THE ALTERNATE ROUTE PROGRAM FOR LEADERSHIP.IN THE FALL AND SPRING OF 2019-2020, 34 PARTICIPANTS TRAINED AND COMPLETED THE MAPQSL SATURDAY SESSIONS BY ATTENDING MONTHLY CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION HELD AT THREE COMMUNITY COLLEGE SITES TO COMPLETE REQUIREMENTS TO RECEIVE THEIR 5-YEAR ENTRY LEVEL ADMINISTRATOR'S LICENSE FROM THE MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.

MISSISSIPPI ALTERNATE PATH TO QUALITY TEACHERS INSTITUTE (MAPQT):THE MAPQT INSTITUTE HAS PROVEN TO BE AN EFFECTIVE TEACHING PROGRAM FOR INDIVIDUALS INTERESTED IN ENTERING THE TEACHING PROFESSION. THIS INSTITUTE FOCUSES ON TRAINING TEACHERS WHO WILL PRIMARILY TEACH IN THE SECONDARY SCHOOL SETTING. SINCE ITS INCEPTION IN 2002, MAPQT HAS PLACED OVER 3,250 LICENSED TEACHERS IN CLASSROOMS ACROSS THE STATE.A TOTAL NUMBER OF 90 PARTICIPANTS COMPLETED THE MAPQT PROGRAM IN APRIL 2020 BY ATTENDING NINE SATURDAY SESSIONS HELD AT FIVE STATEWIDE COMMUNITY COLLEGE SITES. THEY COMPLETED THE REQUIREMENTS TO RECEIVE THEIR 5-YEAR TEACHER LICENSE FROM THE MISSISSIPPI STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.

MISSISSIPPI COMMUNITY COLLEGE LEADERSHIP ACADEMY (MCCLA):THE MCCLA PROGRAM WAS ESTABLISHED IN THE SPRING OF 2009 TO ADDRESS THE IMPENDING SHORTAGE OF LEADERS WITHIN MISSISSIPPI COMMUNITY & JUNIOR COLLEGES. IT IS EVIDENT THAT THE RETIREMENT NATIONWIDE OF COLLEGE PRESIDENTS AND OTHER LEADERS OVER THE NEXT FIVE TO TEN YEARS WILL LEAVE A SHORTAGE OF SEASONED COLLEGE LEADERS UNLESS COLLEGES AND COLLEGE SYSTEMS BEGIN TO EQUIP POTENTIAL LEADERS TO ACCEPT LEADERSHIP ROLES. THE MCCLA WAS FOUNDED TO PREPARE THOSE WHO ARE ALREADY A PART OF THE MISSISSIPPI COMMUNITY COLLEGE FAMILY TO ASSUME GREATER LEADERSHIP ROLES IN THE FUTURE. THE ACADEMY IS DESIGNED TO DRAW UPON THE WISDOM AND EXPERTISE OF COLLEGE PRESIDENTS AND OTHER INDIVIDUALS IN COLLEGE LEADERSHIP, AS WELL AS INDIVIDUALS WHO MAY PROVIDE A MORE GLOBAL VIEW OF THE COLLEGE AND ITS FUTURE.TWENTY-EIGHT INDIVIDUALS GRADUATED FROM THE LEADERSHIP ACADEMY IN 2020, BRINGING THE TOTAL GRADUATES OF MCCLA TO 377 OVER THE FIRST 11 YEARS OF THE PROGRAM. UNFORTUNATELY, THE GRADUATION CEREMONY WAS CANCELLED DUE TO SEVERE WEATHER; HOWEVER, THE COLLEGES WERE ENCOURAGED TO SCHEDULE APPROPRIATE TIMES TO RECOGNIZE THOSE FROM THEIR INSTITUTIONS WHO HAD COMPLETED THE LEADERSHIP ACADEMY. GRADUATES WERE FROM THE FIFTEEN PUBLIC COMMUNITY COLLEGES, THE MCCB, MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY, AND DELTA STATE UNIVERSITY. THE PARTNERSHIP WITH MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY (MSU) CONTINUES TO REMAIN VERY STRONG. MSU ASSISTS WITH PROGRAM COSTS THROUGH AN ANNUAL GRANT, AND A TOTAL OF 30 MSU PARTICIPANTS HAVE GRADUATED FROM THE LEADERSHIP ACADEMY.THE MCCLA ALUMNI ASSOCIATION, WHICH WAS FORMED DURING 2017-2018, WAS VERY ACTIVE IN PREPARING FOR A SPECIAL TIME OF CELEBRATION IN COMMEMORATION OF TEN YEARS OF LEADERSHIP CLASSES. ALL MCCLA GRADUATES WERE INVITED TO ATTEND THE CELEBRATION IN FEBRUARY 2020, HELD AT THE CLYDE MUSE CENTER.
