Organizations Filed Purposes:
TO BENEFIT THE GENERAL PUBLIC AS A CHARITABLE CLASS BY COMBATING URBAN BLIGHT WHICH RESULTS FROM SUBURBAN SPRAWL.
BEAUTIFICATION: THE FOUNDATION HAS A MULTI-PHASE PLAN TO IMPROVE THE APPEARANCE OF OUR COMMUNITY'S ENTRANCES, INTERSECTIONS, AND COMMON AREAS. THIS YEAR, WE COMPLETELY MADE-OVER THE APPEARANCE OF AN AREA BRIDGE LOCATED ON LAKE CIRCLE. THE DESIGN INCLUDED REMOVING THE GALVANIZED STEEL RAILING AND REPLACING IT WITH A DECORATIVE IRON RAIL (SIMILAR TO THE IRON RAILING WE INSTALLED ON A BRIDGE THE PREVIOUS YEAR) AS WELL AS ADDING OUR SIGNATURE ANTIQUE BRICK INSET WITH THE EASTOVER STONE PLAQUES. LIGHTING AND DECORATIVE SIGNAGE WERE ALSO INSTALLED. IN ADDITION, THE FOUNDATION HAS AN ONGOING PARTNERSHIP WITH CASEY ELEMENTARY, OUR NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOL, TO SUPPORT THEIR PROGRAMS AND FACILITY NEEDS. THIS YEAR, WE MADE SUBSTANTIAL IMPROVEMENTS TO THE LARGE AREAS THAT FLANK THE SCHOOL'S ENTRANCE. ROTTED RAILROAD TIES WERE REMOVED AND REPLACED WITH STONE MASONRY TO CREATE A SAFER, MORE ATTRACTIVE DESIGN BORDERING THE NEWLY LANDSCAPED AREA. SEVERAL TREES WERE REMOVED IN ORDER TO PLANT NEW MATERIAL AND SPACES WERE DESIGNATED FOR FUTURE SEATING OPTIONS. (BRIDGE IMPROVEMENTS APPROX.. $46,637 AND $13,671 FOR CASEY IMPROVEMENTS.)
SAFETY & COMMUNITY OUTREACH: SAFE, HEALTHY, SUCCESSFUL COMMUNITIES ARE ONES IN WHICH NEIGHBORS KNOW EACH OTHER AND LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER. STRENGTHENING OUR COMMUNITY BY PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR US TO CONNECT WITH ONE ANOTHER IS PARAMOUNT TO EVERYTHING WE DO. THIS YEAR WE HOSTED OUR ANNUAL HALLOWEEN BLOCK PARTY, ANNUAL EASTER PARTY & PARADE, AND OUR ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING. ACCOMPLISHING THE OBJECTIVE OF SUCCESSFUL FALL AND SPRING EVENTS REQUIRES MANY HOURS EACH MONTH TO PLAN AND PROMOTE THESE EVENTS. IN ADDITION, THE FOUNDATION SPENT MANY HOURS ON ENTRANCE SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS IN AN EFFORT TO CALM AREA TRAFFIC, INCLUDING AN APPLICATION AND SITE PLAN REVIEW FOR APPROVAL OF TRAFFIC CALMING MECHANISMS AT ALL EASTOVER ENTRANCES.(COMMUNITY EVENTS APPROXIMATELY $15,741 AND THE FUTURE ENTRANCE SAFETY WORK AT $8,649.)
COMMUNICATION: VITAL TO THE SUCCESS OF ANY ORGANIZATION IS THE ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY. IN CONSIDERATION OF THE FACT THAT OUR COMMUNITY HAS NEW MEMBERS (AND PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS) THAT ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH OUR WORK, OUR HISTORY AND OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS, WE PUBLISHED AN ANNUAL COLOR REPORT THAT EXPLAINS OUR MISSION, OUR PAST PROJECTS, OUR PROSPECTIVE PROJECTS, AND OUR EXPENSES OVER THE FIRST SEVEN YEARS OF OPERATIONS. THE COMMUNICATION PIECE ILLUSTRATES HOW THE FOUNDATION'S FOUR FOCUS AREAS- SAFETY, COMMUNICATION, BEAUTIFICATION AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH- FIT INTO EVERYTHING WE DO. IT INCLUDES UPDATED RENDERINGS, PHOTOGRAPHS AND A NEWLY DESIGNED MAP. MANY HOURS WENT INTO ASSIMILATING THE DATA AND DETERMINING THE MANNER OF PRESENTING OF THIS INFORMATION. (ANNUAL REPORT APPROX. $11,638.)
