Organizations Filed Purposes:
To keep the public aware of Fair Housing and Fair Lending laws and issues to empower them to identify and address discriminatory housing practices. Also, to provide better housing through housing counseling.
Housing Education and Economic Development (HEED) undertook a Fair Housing Initiatives Program Private Enforcement Initiative for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. As part of this initiative, HEED received over 33 hours of training, performed education and outreach in the State of Mississippi that reached over 100,000 persons who speak English, Spanish, and Chinese, conducted over 7 intake interviews, recruited and trained at least 7 fair housing testers, conducted 100 tests, assisted at least 3 persons in obtaining a reasonable accommodation, and filed at least 5 fair housing complaints.
Housing Education and Economic Development (HEED) undertook a Fair Housing Initiatives Program Education and Outreach Initiative for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). As part of this initiative, HEED received 45 hours of training, held at least 13 workshops, distributed 2400 brochures, and posted 10 newspaper advertisements. This education and outreach reached over 150,000 persons.
Housing Education and Economic Development (HEED) undertook a Comprehensive Housing Counseling project for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). As part of this project, HEED provided fair housing and homebuyer education to 18 persons. HEED also provided one-on-one housing counseling to 113 households, including homeless, pre-purchase, post-purchase, mortgage default, and reverse mortgage. The total number of households served was 131.
