Program Area: Learning. IDEA supports educational change makers to learn together and gain new ideas through the use of events, learning calls, and drafting learning reports. In 2019-2020 IDEA led several online-based antiracism courses for educators, and led a learning experience in Puerto Rico focusing on colonization and solidarity.

Program Area: Showcasing. IDEA organizes tours and other learning experiences to provide educators, young people, parents, and others with the opportunity to see what is possible and bring new ideas back to their own settings. In 2019-2020 IDEA coordinated Learning Tours for young people and adult staff from multiple youth organizations in New England to see student-centered learning and education equity in action.

Program Area: Mississippi Project. IDEA supports community-led advocacy and organizing in Mississippi through raising up the voices of community members and providing training and support to turn those ideas into policy proposals and advocacy efforts. In 2019-2020 IDEA continued working alongside local, state, and national partners to keep public education as a public good for the community of Jackson. IDEA supported the Jackson community to learn about community schools and restorative justice practices, and led virtual teacher and parent circles during the COVID-19 pandemic.
