Organizations Filed Purposes:
THE ASSOCIATION PROMOTES A POSITIVE BUSINESS CLIMATE FOR THE POULTRY INDUSTRY OF MISSISSIPPI THROUGH EFFECTIVE PROGRAMS IN GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS, EDUCATION, COMMUNICATION AND RESEARCH.
PROMOTION OF THE POULTRY INDUSTRY TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
ANNUAL CONVENTION: AN EDUCATIONAL AND BUSINESS MEETING IS HELD FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE GENERAL MEMBERSHIP. THIS MEETING PROVIDES MEMBERS WITH USEFUL INFORMATION ABOUT THE INDUSTRY AND OFFERS INFORMATIVE SPEAKERS. THIS WAS THE ASSOCIATION'S 82ND CONVENTION. WE BRING SPEAKERS FROM STATE AGENCIES OR UNIVERSITY DIVISIONS THAT WORK WITH THE POULTRY INDUSTRY TO GIVE UPDATES AND OUR MEMBERS FIND THIS ONE OF THE MOST USEFUL EVENTS ACCORDING TO POST-CONVENTION SURVEYS.
EDUCATIONAL AND PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES:MPA CONDUCTED A POULTRY HEALTH SEMINAR IN FEBRUARY, A TWO-DAY SCHOOL IN MAY FOR POULTRY COMPANY SERVICE TECHNICIANS AND AN AUGUST SEMINAR FOR INDUSTRY EMPLOYEES WORKING IN HATCHERIES OR SUPERVISING BREEDER F ARMS. UNIVERSITY PROFESSORS AND INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS VOLUNTEER AS SPEAKERS. MPA KEEPS ITS MEMBERS INFORMED THROUGH A WEEKLY LEGISLATIVE NEWSLETTER EMAILED TO ABOUT 100 INDIVIDUALS, A QUARTERLY MAGAZINE GEARED TO GROWERS' INTERESTS THAT IS MAILED TO MORE THAN 900 INDIVIDUALS, THE ASSOCIATION'S WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA. WE ALSO COLLECT RECENT POULTRY RESEARCH ACTIVITIES FROM MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY AND U.S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH SERVICE AND SEND IT TO MEMBERS. WE CONTINUED WITH OUR RE-STARTED FOOD SAFETY ROUNDTABLE THAT ALLOWS PROCESSING PLANT PROFESSIONALS TO MEET WITH OFFICIALS FROM THE USDA FOOD SAFETY INSPECTION SERVICE.
CHARITABLE DONATION:EACH YEAR BEFORE THANKSGIVING, MPA COORDINATES AN ANNUAL DONATION FROM MEMBER COMPANIES OF MORE THAN A TRUCKLOAD OF POULTRY AND EGG PRODUCTS TO A CHARITY DESIGNATED BY THE GOVERNOR. THE 2019 DONATION YEAR WAS THE NINTH YEAR AND OUR BIGGEST YET.ADVOCACY:THE ASSOCIATION PROVIDES COMMENTS ON PROPOSED LOCAL, STATE AND FEDERAL REGULATIONS THAT IMPACT THE INDUSTRY AND REPRESENTS THE INDUSTRY AT THE LEGISLATURE.
