GOVERNED BY A LOCAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS, NDC IS PARTNERING WITH LOCAL, STATE, AND NATIONAL AGENCIES AND ORGANIZATIONS, AS WELL AS PRIVATE DEVELOPERS, TO PROMOTE REDEVELOPMENT EFFORTS IN NEIGHBORHOODS. CERTIFIED AS A COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT HOUSING ORGANIZATION (CHDO) BY THE MISSISSIPPI DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY, AND PENDING APPROVAL AS A NEIGHBORWORKS NETWORK BY NEIGHBORWORKSAMERICA, NDC IS POSITIONED TO BE A STRONG CATALYST IN THE PROVISION OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING.

THE ORGANIZATION PARTICIPATES IN A VARIETY OF NEIGHBORHOOD REVITALIZATION EFFORTS, INCLUDING SPONSORING HOMEBUYER EDUCATION AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT CLASSES AND WORKS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH LOCAL NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATIONS IN ORDER TO PROMOTE HEALTHY COMMUNITIES THROUGH THE NEIGHBORWORKS SYSTEM. IN ADDITION TO THE FOREGOING, THE CITY OF TUPELO NAMED THE ORGANIZATION AS GRANTEE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD REVITALIZATION PROJECT ON WEST JACKSON STREET IN TUPELO, MISSISSIPPI AND THE ORGANIZATION IS IN THE PROCESS OF ACQUIRING AND DEMOLISHING PROPERTIES CONSISTENT WITH THAT GRANT AWARD DURING THE COURSE OF THE YEAR.

THE ORGANIZATION WAS A PASS-THROUGH RECIPIENT FOR FHLB SNAP AND AHP GRANT FUNDS. THE FEDERAL HOME LOAN BANK (FHLB) SPECIAL NEEDS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (SNAP)PROVIDES GRANT FUNDS FOR REHABILITATION COSTS OF ELIGIBLE SPECIAL NEEDS HOMEOWNERS. THE FHLB AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROGRAM (AHP) PROVIDES DIRECT GRANTS AND SUBSIDIZED LOANS TO ASSIST MEMBERS IN FINANCING THE PURCHASE, CONSTRUCTION, AND/OR REHABILITATION OF SINGLE-FAMILY, RENTAL, TRANSITIONAL, AND SINGLE-ROOM HOUSING IN THEIR COMMUNITY. FUNDS MUST BE USED TO BENEFIT HOUSEHOLDS WITH INCOMES AT OR BELOW 80% OF THE MEDIAN INCOME FOR THE AREA.
