Organizations Filed Purposes:
We inspire Native leadership so our communities flourish. We foster positive change through leadership, engagement, education, and advocacy.
Leadership Development: we engaged with groups across the country to create leadership development and training opportunities. We co-hosted the Indigenous Movements Interchange which brought together members of indigenous populations in Montana to find common ground, support, and opportunities to collaborate on shared issues. We also participated in, and presented at, various conferences throughout the year and shared our experiences and what we have learned through our polling, canvassing, and direct engagement work in Montana's Native communities. Many youths who have participated in our leadership development programs have advanced to leadership roles like tribal council and governance positions with other nonprofit organizations.
Civic Participation: we trained and supervised a staff of community organizers who worked in their local communities to educate local voters on the election process. They also worked to help eligible voters register to vote and make arrangements to reach the polls. We did outreach such as table at community events, conducted door to door canvassing, statewide voter registration drive.
Education: we targeted the high schools, tribal colleges, urban Indian centers and other Native organizations. Presentations and discussions covering topics like the history of Native voting, policy impacts, policy implementation, and leadership opportunities. When individuals are informed and educated, engagement increases, voter turnout improves, elected officials are held accountable to Native issues, and our communities flourish.
