Our mission at Big Sky Youth Empowerment is to provide opportunities for vulnerable teenagers in the Gallatin Valley to experience success and become contributing members of our community through group mentorship and experiential adventures.
In 2019, Big Sky Youth Empowerment worked with an average of 129 youth providing 41,640 hours of programming utilizing 69 mentors who provided 15,072 hours of service. Youth participated in 36 weeks of evening workshops and 30 weekend adventures. Workshop curriculum focused on a wide range of topics including trust, teamwork, communication, coping skills, goal setting, independent living skills, and environmental stewardship. Adventures included skiing and snowboarding in winter, rope courses, zip-lining, whitewater rafting and outdoor rock climbing in summer, and pottery, painting, indoor rock climbing, creative writing, and culinary arts in the fall.
