Organizations Filed Purposes: HABITAT FOR HUMANITY BRINGS PEOPLE TOGETHER TO BUILD HOMES, COMMUNITIES, AND HOPE.

THE ORGANIZATION BUILDS SIMPLE, DECENT AND AFFORDABLE HOMES IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THOSE IN NEED. THEY SELL HOUSES TO FAMILIES AT NO PROFIT THROUGH INTEREST-FREE LOANS. THEIR PURPOSE ALSO INCLUDES EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY BUILDING. THE ORGANIZATION HAS BEEN ACTIVE IN THE VALLEY SINCE 1998 AND HAS HELPED 6 FAMILIES BUILD AND PURCHASE HOMES OF THEIR OWN IN HAMILTON, CORVALLIS, STEVENSVILLE, AND DARBY. THEY COMPLETED THEIR SIXTH HOME IN THE FALL OF 2014 AND HAVE LAND IN STEVENSVILLE TO BUILD THEIR SEVENTH HOME WITH CONSTRUCTION BEGINNING IN MARCH OF 2016. VOLUNTEERS PROVIDE MOST OF THE LABOR, AND INDIVIDUAL AND CORPORATE DONORS PROVIDE MONEY AND MATERIALS TO BUILD HABITAT HOUSES. PARTNER FAMILIES THEMSELVES INVEST HUNDREDS OF HOURS OF LABOR - "SWEAT EQUITY" - INTO BUILDING THEIR HOMES AND THE HOMES Of OTHERS. THEIR MORTGAGE PAYMENTS GO INTO A REVOLVING FUND OF THE ORGANIZATION AND IS USED TO HELP BUILD MORE HOUSES.

THE ORGANIZATION SELLS DONATED NEW AND USED FURNITURE, HOME ACCESSORIES, BUILDING MATERIALS, AND APPLIANCES TO THE PUBLIC AT A FRACTION OF THE RETAIL PRICE. ALL PROCEEDS ARE USED TO BUILD HOMES, COMMUNITY, AND HOPE LOCALLY AND AROUND THE WORLD.

THE ORGANIZATION HAS A HOUSING REPAIR PROGRAM CALLED "A BRUSH WITH KINDNESS". THIS IS A NATION-WIDE PROGRAM SERVING LOW-INCOME HOMEOWNERS WHO STRUGGLE TO MAINTAIN THE EXTERIOR OF THEIR HOMES. THE PROGRAM FOCUSES ON MINOR EXTERIOR HOME IMPROVEMENTS SUCH AS PAINTING, MINOR REPAIRS, AND CLEAN-UP. LOW-INCOME HOMEOWNERS ARE SELECTED ON THE BASIS OF NEED, ABILITY TO REPAY A NO-INTEREST LOAN, AND WILLINGNESS TO PARTNER WITH THE ORGANIZATION. PAYMENTS MADE BY THE PARTNER FAMILY ARE PLACED IN A REVOLVING FUND TO HELP THE ORGANIZATION'S A BRUSH WITH KINDNESS PROGRAM IN ORDER TO SERVE OTHERS IN NEED. THE PROGRAM USES LOCAL VOLUNTEERS, DONATED MATERIALS, AND NO-INTEREST LOANS TO MAKE IMPROVEMENTS AND REPAIRS THAT HELP LOW-INCOME HOMEOWNERS CONTINUE TO LIVE INDEPENDENTLY AND SECURELY IN THEIR HOMES.
