THE MONTANA LEARNING CENTER PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS RANGING FROM FIRST GRADERS THROUGH ADULTS.
THE MONTANA LEARNING CENTER AT CANYON FERRY LAKE (MLC) PROVIDES AND PROMOTES QUALITY IMMERSION EXPERIENCES FOR ALL IN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY,ENGINEERING AND MATHEMATICS (STEM) IN A UNIQUE LAKESIDE ENVIRONMENT. PRIMARILY UTILIZING RESIDENCE CAMPS, THE COMMON GOAL ACROSS ALL PROGRAMS IS TO FOSTER ANALYTICAL THINKING SKILLS AND THEABILITY TO MAKE CONNECTIONS ACROSS DISCIPLINES. KIDS CAMPS TARGET STUDENTS FROM ELEMENTARY SCHOOL THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL, WITH NEARLY 323 YOUNG CAMPERS IN 2019, AND FOCUS ON THEMES SUCH AS EARTH AND SPACE SCIENCE. ALL CAMP STAFF INVOLVED IN PROGRAMMING ARE CERTIFIED TEACHERS, AND PROJECTS INCLUDE SEARCHING FOR AND POLISHINGMONTANA AGATES, ANALYZING SAMPLES TAKEN FROM CANYON FERRY LAKE, AND BUILDING AND PROGRAMMING ROBOTS. THE MONTANA LEARNING CENTER OFFERS POPULAR WORKSHOPS FOR TEACHERS TO HELP ENCOURAGE ANALYTICAL THINKING NOT ONLY AT CAMP BUT ALSO THROUGHOUT THE REGIONS EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM.
