Organizations Filed Purposes: THE MISSION OF CITIZENS FOR A BETTER FLATHEAD IS TO FOSTER CITIZEN PARTICIPATION AND TO CHAMPION SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS NEEDED TO KEEP THE FLATHEAD ECOLOGICALLY AND ECONOMICALLY HEALTHY.

KEEP THE PUBLIC INFORMED BY PROVIDING THE RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS THAT ENABLES THE PUBLIC TO MORE EASILY GET INVOLVED IN THE ISSUES OF IMPORTANCE TO THEM. CBF EQUIPS CITIZENS AND DECISION-MAKERS WITH THE POLICY RESEARCH AND PRACTICAL TOOLS THEY NEED TO ADVANCE LONG-TERM SOLUTIONS TO OUR VALLEYS MOST SIGNIFICANT CHALLENGES. WE BELIEVE THAT CHANGE IS INEVITABLE, AND HOW AND WHERE WE GROW, AS A COMMUNITY, IS A CIVIC RESPONSIBILITY WE ALL SHARE.

PROMOTE BEST PRACTICES AND INNOVATIVE LAND USE TOOLS FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY, APPROPIATE TO OUR AREA, TO HELP MANAGE OUR RAPID GROWTH. IN CBF WORKED SUCCESSFULLY TO SHAPE NUMEROUS LAND USE POLICIES THAT DEFINE HOW THE FLATHEAD GROWS INCLUDING SECURING POLICIES THAT BRING GREATER PROTECTION TO COUNTY WATER RESOURCES. WE SAFEGUARDED POLICIES NEEDED TO LIMIT A PATTERN OF COSTLY HIGHWAY SPRAWL DEVELOPMENT IN THE COUNTY THAT DIMINISHES THE ECONOMIC VITALITY OF THE REGION. WE PARTNERED WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS TO IDENTIFY LOCAL SOLUTIONS TO ADDRESS CLIMATE CHANGE. ON AN ONGOING BASIS WE PROVIDE SERVICES AND OUTREACH TO REDUCE WASTE AND PROMOTE RECYCLING, AND TO PROMOTE THE ECONOMIC BENEFITS TO THE FLATHEAD ECONOMY OF SHOPPING LOCALLY.

HOLD DECISION MAKERS ACCOUNTABLE TO FOLLOWING EXISTING PLANS AND GIVING MEANINGFUL CONSIDERATION TO PUBLIC COMMENT. PROVIDE THE RESEARCH AND FACTS FOR SOUND DECISION MAKING.PRESERVATION OF THE FLATHEADS NATURAL AMENITIES AND SMALL TOWN CHARACTER IS VITAL TO OUR ECONOMIC FUTURE. IT IS OUR COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THAT LOCAL GOVERNMENT POLICIES AND DECISIONS GIVE MEANINGFUL CONSIDERATION TO THE WELL-BEING OF THE WHOLE COMMUNITY, THE ENVIRONMENT, AND FUTURE GENERATIONS.
