Organizations Filed Purposes:
OUR MISSION AT THE NW MONTANA VETERANS STAND DOWN AND FOOD PANTRY IS TO PROVIDE A HELPING HAND UP TO LOW-INCOME, AT RISK, AND HOMELESS VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES. WE HOPE TO PROVIDE SUSTAINABLE LIVING AND SELF-SUFFICIENCY BY OFFERING ASSISTANCE WITH BASIC NEEDS, COUNSELING, AND COMMUNITY RESOURCES.
PROVIDE CLOTHING AND FOOD FOR NEEDY VETERANS
DURING 2019, THE ORGANIZATION CONTINUED TO PROVIDE FOOD, CLOTHING, AND MEDICAL EQUIPMENT FOR SEVERAL HUNDRED NEEDY VETERANS. THEY HANDED OUT OVER 2,136 BOXES OF FOOD AND RECEIVED OVER 4,000 HOURS OF VOLUNTEER SERVICE.
CAMP PONDEROSA: IN SEPTEMBER 2018, THE ORGANIZATION INITIATED A LEASE OF STATE LAND WITH CAMP FACILITIES WITH THE INTENT TO IMPROVE THE PROPERTY TO EVENTUALLY PROVIDE REHABILITATION AND COUNSELING TO VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES IN A PEACEFUL SETTING OVER THE NEXT THREE YEARS. SINCE INITIATING THE LEASE, THE ORGANIZATION HAS STARTED WORK TO BRING THE CAMP BACK TO FUNCTIONING STATUS AS IT WAS PREVIOUSLY DORMANT FOR 12 YEARS. IN 2019, THE ORGANIZATION INSTALLED A NEW PROPANE HEATING SYSTEM AND DUCT WORK FOR THE MAIN BUILDING; REPAIRED PLUMBING IN ADMIN BUILDING; INSTALLED A COMPLETE WASH ROOM AND TOILET IN SHOP BUILDING; INSTALLED NEW LED LIGHTING; AND CONTRACTED WITH MONTANA CAMPUS COMPACT FOR FIRE MITIGATION SERVICES FOR THE ENTIRE PROPERTY.
