Montana on a Mission exists to encourage people to live out the love of Jesus Christ by coming alongside impoverished or marginalized people to improve their physical condition and ultimately impact their spiritual lives.
During 2019 MOM's H2O For Life Kenya program drilled two new deep, solar wells, which will serve an estimated 3,000 additional people and have the potential to serve up to 5,500 people with the installation of pipelines to two area schools. We hope to raise the funds and install these pipelines by 2022. At the community of Papuyia, where MOM drilled a borehole in 2018, fetching kiosks and troughs for livestock watering were built. These projects serve to protect the infrastructure of the borehole and improve access to the clean water for people, livestock and wildlife.Scouting and research of five potential future water project sites took place in June, along with community meetings.Throughout 2019 M.O.M. was able to host several viewings of the Jesus Film Project's films in our project areas and distributed 450 Maasai language Bibles to attendees. M.O.M. equipped a local pastor with a fully solar, portable backpack unit in 2018 to enable him to continue sharing the films throughout the rural, Maasai area. This pastor continues to travel throughout Narok county showing the Jesus films at the request of many communities. He has shared the films with several thousand people over the past year. This resource has allowed for some amazing ministry opportunities and discipleship.
The teachers told me that the lunch program has made a big difference in the students. They no longer went home at lunch to look for food, rather they stayed at school and were more attentive in the classroom and participated in classroom conversation and were gaining weight! We also were able to build a room at the school for our lunch room. The parents were faithful to bring wood for cooking. In the new 2019/2020 school year that started in June, we were able to feed the whole school of more than 165 students! It's so much fun to see the kids run from their classrooms at lunch time to the lunch room! The cooks prepare delicious and nutritious food and the kids can have as much as they want.We weigh the children three time a year, at the beginning of the school year, just before Christmas break, and in March or April just before the school year ends. Most students have gained 2 to 4 kilos/yearSchool ended early this year due to the virus and when it will begin again in the Philippines is still not determined. This school lunch program has just finished its 7th year and it's the only one on the island of Bohol. What an incredible blessing it has been to be a part of all this and making a difference in the lives of so many children! God be praised!
