Organizations Filed Purposes: PROVIDE HISTORY OF MOUNTAIN FLYING IN THE NORTHERN ROCKIES TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC.

The Museum held the following events and participated in the activities below to promote, educate and inspire current and future generations of people and to generate interest and insight into the world of aviation as well as to promote the Museum of Mountain Flying and its projects. Rosie the Riveter Fundraising Party. We honored the female volunteers working on Miss Montana and those who worked on World War II airplanes as well as female smokejumpers by hosting a female volunteer day and party. AOPA Movie Night. We offered a screening of the 35mm movie Always for visitors at the AOPA meeting. It was a way to encourage visitors to visit and become acquainted with the Museum of Mountain Flying and the Miss Montana project.Send-off Gala, May 11, 2019. This was a fundraising party held to raise additional funds for Miss Montanas trip to re-enact the Normandy Invasion for the 75th anniversary. Over 600 people attended an evening of dinner and dancing and a live auction. This project successfully brought in excess of 600 people to the Museum.D-Day Re-enactment, Normandy, France, May 19 June 24, 2019. The Museum crew flew Miss Montana to Normandy, France to participate in the 75th Anniversary of the Normandy Invasion. They also attended events in England, France, and Germany. Our participation in this event brought an amazing outpouring of interest in the Museum and the Miss Montana project. By participating in this project, the Museum received local, state, national, and world publicity of the Museum and this particular project.AirVenture, Oshkosh, Wisconsin, July 19-26, 2019. Miss Montana and crew attended the largest air show in the United States to promote the Miss Montana project and the Museum of Mountain Flying.Mann Gulch Event, August 4, 2019. Miss Montana and crew attended the Mann Gulch fire 74th anniversary. Miss Montana was the plane that carried the smokejumpers who perished in the Mann Gulch fire.Fly-In at Kalispell, August 17-18, 2019. Miss Montana attended a fly-in on a homeowners landing strip to bring attention to the project and garner additional contributions and interest in the Museum from pilots and friends of the Museum in the Kalispell area. Penn Stohr Memorial Flight. Miss Montana and crew visited the Townsend area site with the family of Penn Store, a Johnson Flying Service era pilot, where Penn crashed and lost his life.Billings Fly-In, September 6, 2019. Miss Montana and crew attended the Billings Fly-in to increase awareness of the Museum of Mountain Flying and its projects.Griz Game, Miss Montana, Fly-Over, September 7, 2019. At the request of the University of Montana, Miss Montana flew over the Grizzly football game in order to celebrate the successful completion of its historic flight to Normandy and garner interest in the Museum.Bahama Relief Effort, September 14-October 15, 2019. Miss Montana and crew gathered donations to assist the Bahama Relief Effort and transported the donations and several Museum volunteers to Florida where they carried in excess of 10,000 meals a day to the Hurricane Dorian victims.Museum Opening, Spokane, October 16-18, 2019. To further increase awareness of the Museum of Mountain Flying and the Miss Montana project, members of the crew and board of directors attended the grand opening of the new aviation museum at Felds Field in Spokane, Washington.
