IN COLLABORATION WITH THE PEOPLE OF MISSOULA AND SURROUNDING AREAS AND LOCAL, STATE, AND NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS, THE POVERELLO CENTER, INC REACHES OUT TO PROVIDE FOOD, SHELTER, CLOTHING, AND ESSENTIAL SERVICES TO THE COMMUNITY'S HUNGRY AND HOMELESS. THIS MISSION IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH COMPASSIONATE, RESPECTFUL, AND COMPETENT SERVICES IN AN ENVIRONMENT THAT ENHANCES HUMAN WORTH.
PROVIDE FOOD, SHELTER, CLOTHING, AND ESSENTIAL SERVICES TO THE COMMUNITY'S HUNGRY AND HOMELESS.
THE POVERELLO CENTER, LOCATED AT 1110 WEST BROADWAY IN MISSOULA, MONTANA, HOUSES SERVICES FOR TEMPORARILY HOMELESS CLIENTS. THE SHELTER PROVIDES 95 EMERGENCY BEDS, WITH 24 HOUR ACCESS TO SHELTER AND SERVICES. SERVICES PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE IN THE SHELTER INCLUDE: BREAKFAST, LUNCH, AND DINNER, AS WELL AS ACCESS TO SACK LUNCHES, COMPUTER LAB, PHONE, MAIL, SHOWERS, LAUNDRY FACILITIES, RAPID INTAKE AND REFERRAL, AND AN ON-SITE PARTNERSHIP HEALTH SERVICES AS WELL AS MEDICAL RESPITE FACILITIES AND A HOUSING RETENTION SPECIALIST. IN 2019, "THE POV" PROVIDED 172,976 MEALS AND 54,324 NIGHTS OF SHELTER TO 1,264 UNDUPLICATED INDIVIDUALS.
HOUSING MONTANA HEROES PROVIDES 20 BEDS IN OUR BROADWAY FACILITY FOR HOMELESS VETERANS. THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES VETERANS UP TO 24 MONTHS OF SUPPORTIVE HOUSING, INCLUDING ON-SITE CASE MANAGEMENT, PREPARED MEALS, 24-HOUR A DAY SUPPORT STAFFING, AND ACCESS TO PARTNER AGENCIES AND COMMUNITY SUPPORTS THAT WILL ASSIST THEM IN TRANSITIONING FROM HOMELESSNESS TO A MORE PERMANENT HOUSING SITUATION. THE PROGRAM IS LOCATED ON A SECURE WING AND HAS A SEPERATE COMMUNITY ROOM, BATHROOM AND LAUNDRY FACILITIES.
THE VALOR HOUSE PROVIDES 17 INDIVIDUAL APARTMENT UNITS TO PREVIOUSLY HOMELESS VETERANS, IN A NON-DORMITORY TYPE SETTING, ONSITE CASE MANAGEMENT, 24-HOUR STAFFING, AND AN ABUNDANCE OF LOCAL AREA HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS TO HELP AID VETERANS AS THEY TRANSITION OUT OF HOMELESSNESS AND CREATE STABILITY FOR THE FUTURE. THE PROGRAM IS CONSIDERED LONG-TERM TRANSITIONAL HOUSING, WHERE QUALIFIED RESIDENTS CAN LIVE FOR UP TO 24 MONTHS, AND WITH A MINIMUM 12 MONTH STAY. DURING THEIR STAY AT VALOR, RESIDENTS PAY 30% OF THEIR INCOME AS RENT. AFTER ONE YEAR IN THE PROGRAM, A VETERAN IS ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE A SECTION 8 HOUSING VOUCHER TO ATTAIN THE HOUSING OF THEIR CHOICE.
