Organizations Filed Purposes: AMPLIFY WOMEN'S VOICES TO ELIMINATE THE TOXIC CHEMICALS THAT HARM OUR HEALTH AND COMMUNITIES.

THE SAFE CLEANING PRODUCTS INITIATIVE REDUCES THE CHEMICAL EXPOSURE OF WOMEN, WORKERS, AND COMMUNITIES BY ADVOCATING FOR THE DISCLOSURE, LABELING AND REMOVAL OF TOXIC CHEMICALS FROM HOUSEHOLD CLEANING PRODUCTS. RECENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDE: - WE LAUNCHED PART 2 OF 'THE HEALTH FIRST ROADMAP,' WHICH AIMS TO MOVE CLEANING PRODUCT MAKERS TO BETTER SCREEN CHEMICALS FOR SAFETY. PART 2 IS A SCORECARD RATING COMPANIES ON THEIR POLICIES AND INGREDIENTS. COMPETITION HAS PROVEN SUCCESSFUL IN GETTING COMPANIES TO MAKE CHANGES. - WE CONTINUED THE 'QUIT THE QUATS' CAMPAIGN, PUTTING OUT AN ACTION TOOLKIT AND FORMING AN ACTION GROUP (PARENTS AGAINST QUATS). MORE THAN 13,000 HAVE SIGNED A PETITION URGING CLOROX TO STOP USING HARMFUL DISINFECTANTS.

THE SAFE INTIMATE CARE AND MENSTRUAL PRODUCTS PROGRAM IS AIMED AT ELIMINATING TOXIC CHEMICALS FROM INTIMATE CARE AND MENSTRUAL PRODUCTS AND INCREASE DISCLOSURE OF INGREDIENTS. OUR RECENT SUCCESSES INCLUDE: - WE PASSED A BILL IN NEW YORK, THE FIRST OF ITS KIND, THAT WILL REQUIRE THE MAKERS OF PERIOD PRODUCTS TO DISCLOSE THE INGREDIENTS OF THE PRODUCTS THEY SELL IN THE STATE. THIS IS A VICTORY FOR ALL OF US, AS IT SETS A NATIONAL PRECEDENT FOR INGREDIENT DISCLOSURE. - WE SAW MOVEMENT FROM MAJOR COMPANIES LIKE SUMMER'S EVE, WHO BECAUSE OF OUR CAMPAIGN HAVE PHASED OUT DANGEROUS DYES, QUESTIONABLE 'ODOR CONTROL TECHNOLOGY,' AN UNDISCLOSED SPERMICIDE AND MULTIPLE PRESERVATIVES THAT ARE LINKED TO CANCER. - P&G TOLD US (PRIVATELY) THAT THE COMPANY REMOVED FRAGRANCE ALLERGENS FROM PERIOD PRODUCTS. - WE PUBLISHED AND CIRCULATED A FACT SHEET ON THE GROWING USE OF NANOSILVER IN PERIOD PRODUCTS. - WE HELD 'OUR STORIES, OUR FLOW' WORKSHOPS TO DESTIGMATIZE MENSTRUATION AND GET PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT AND TAKING ACTION FOR SAFE AND HEALTHY PERIOD PRODUCTS.

THE SAFE COSMETICS AND HEALTHY SALONS PROGRAM INCREASES THE HEALTH, SAFETY, AND RIGHT OF SALON WORKS AND CLIENTS BY REDUCING TOXIC CHEMICAL EXPOSURE IN SALONS. RECENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDE: - WE ADVANCED A BILL IN CALIFORNIA TO REQUIRE THE DISCLOSURE OF FRAGRANCE INGREDIENTS IN RETAIL COSMETICS AND PROFESSIONAL SALON PRODUCTS. THE BILL UNEXPECTEDLY DID NOT MAKE IT TO A SENATE FLOOR VOTE, BUT WE HAD A SUCCESSFUL LOBBY DAY AND LAID THE GROUNDWORK TO REINTRODUCE IN 2020. - WE ORGANIZED SALON WORKERS AND COORDINATED WITH PARTNERS TO PREPARE TO FILE A CITIZENS' PETITION TO THE FDA ON FORMALDEHYDE-CONTAINING HAIR STRAIGHTENERS. - WE CONTINUED TO 'WATCHDOG' THE COSMETIC INGREDIENT REVIEW (CIR), PUBLICIZING AND SUBMITTING COMMENTS ON THEIR INADEQUATE SAFETY DETERMINATIONS.
