TO SUPPORT THE HANOVER HIGH SCHOOL CREW PROGRAM THROUGH FUNDRAISING AND VOLUNTEER PROJECTS

THE FRIENDS OF HANOVER CREW CONTINUED TO FULFILL ITS MISSION TO RAISE MONEY TO SUPPORT THE LOCAL HANOVER HIGH SCHOOL ROWING TEAM BY PURCHASING EQUIPMENT FOR THE PROGRAM. IN 2019 THE FRIENDS PURCHASED A NEW MEN'S EIGHT SHELL, TWO SETS OF OARS AND A COACHING LAUNCH. WITH HELP FROM THE FRIENDS, OVER 130 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ROWED IN THE SPRING SEASON. THE TEAM RACED AT A NUMBER OF REGATTAS AND ONCE AGAIN HOSTED THE ANNUAL NEW HAMPSHIRE STATE HIGH SCHOOL ROWING CHAMPIONSHIP WHICH INCLUDED OVER 600 HIGH SCHOOL ROWERS, GIRLS AND BOYS, COMPETING FOR TOP HONORS IN THE STATE ON AN INDIVIDUAL, BOAT AND TEAM BASIS. THE FRIENDS OF HANOVER CREW BOATHOUSE IS ALSO HOME TO A FEW DOZEN ADULT AND JUNIOR SCULLERS FROM HANOVER, LEBANON AND THE SURROUNDING AREAS WHO STORE THEIR BOATS YEAR-ROUND, AND ROW IN THE SPRING, SUMMER AND FALL.

DURING THE SUMMER, THE FRIENDS OF HANOVER CREW ONCE AGAIN JOINED TOGETHER AND FORMED A TEAM OF HIGH SCHOOL ROWERS, COACHES, PARENTS, FAMILY MEMBERS AND SUPPORTERS TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE NORRIS COTTON CANCER CENTER IN THE ANNUAL PROUTY FUNDRAISING EVENT. THE FRIENDS OF HANOVER CREW PROUTY TEAM RAISED MONEY FOR THE CANCER CENTER. SINCE 2007, WHEN THE FOHC FIRST PARTICIPATED IN THE PROUTY, IT HAS RAISED ALMOST $1.5 MILLION DOLLARS TO SUPPORT RESEARCH AND DIRECT PATIENT AND FAMILY SERVICES AT THE NORRIS COTTON CANCER CENTER.

IN 2019 THE FOHC COMPLETED THE DEMOLITION OF THE FARMHOUSE BUILDING THAT WAS ADJACENT TO THE BOATHOUSE. THE FARMHOUSE WAS UNINHABITED FOR ABOUT 20 YEARS, WAS IN DANGER OF COLLAPSE AND FULL OF MOLD AND DANGEROUS ASBESTOS. THE SITE IS NOW SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVED IN TERMS OF BOTH AESTHETICS AND SAFETY. IN ADDITION, THE FRIENDS RAISED SUFFICIENT MONEY IN 2019 TO REPLACE THE ROOF ON THE BARN AND MAKE OTHER IMPROVEMENTS TO THAT STRUCTURE. THE BARN NOW IS AVAILABLE FOR WINTER STORAGE OF BOATS AND AS A TEAM GATHERING PLACE.
