The Cheshire Health Foundation raises funds to support the health and wellness mission of Cheshire Medical Center. For fiscal year 2020, Medical Center senior leaders and trustees collaborated with Foundation trustees to determine the strategic needs for the year. Two strategic priorities were determined: the purchase of 17 defibrillators to replace older, outdated defibrillators located in our hospital/acute care setting, and a portable, digital x-ray machine for use in the intensive care unit, emergency department and surgical suite. This x-ray machine also replaced older, outdated equipment. The majority of the money that the Foundation raised went for the purchase of these pieces of technology. Other funds raised supported the Norris Cotton Cancer Center through the purchase of equipment such as all new infusion chairs as well as assisting patients financially who have difficulty meeting their daily living expenses. The Foundation also brought in donations for the purchase of a new bladder scanner for the Women's Health Unit, and scholarship funds were increased through donations to the Cindi Coughlin Professional Nursing Scholarship Fund and the Ben Tatro Memorial Healthcare Scholarship Fund. Planned gifts over the years have created specific purpose funds and permanently restricted endowment funds that support patient care at Cheshire Medical Center, including patient financial assistance, nursing scholarships and the support of Population Health and the Healthy Monadnock initiatives.
