Alice Peck Day Health Systems Corp., together with Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital and Alice Peck Day Lifecare Center, Inc., achieved the following high impact program service accomplishments during fiscal year 2018:Community health education/services ($30,193) including RN support for community flu clinics, medical volunteer aid for victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, start-up costs for the FitScripts prescription exercise program, the Upper Valley Smiles dental program (see below), and friendly visitor program for frail elders in the community.Health professions education ($20,993) including scholarship support for a surgical technician training program, and nurse residency program.Community-building activities ($22,271) including staff/leadership participation in local and statewide rural health advocacy forums, statewide and local emergency preparedness training and community organization boards.Financial contributions ($58,289) of cash donations to local non-profits including the Good Neighbor Health Clinic, Grafton County Senior Citizens Council transportation program, Lebanon Summer Lunch program, Canaan Elementary School Morning Activity program, Emergency Pharmacy Vouchers and the American Heart Association local Go Red event. In-kind donations of meeting space and refreshments for community groups, as well as an in-kind donation of hospital space for a satellite Good Neighbor Health medical clinic in Lebanon and administrative space for Headrest, Inc.Program highlights: Upper Valley Smiles is a free school based dental program that provides a critical safety net for low-income children in the Lebanon, Mascoma, Newport (NH) Hartford and Hartland (VT) school districts. During fiscal year 2018, the Upper Valley Smiles program of oral health education, dental screenings, preventive treatment, and referrals to dental offices was offered in ten elementary schools. 2,721 children received classroom oral health education, 953 children received preventive care (fluoride varnish, sealants, and in NH schools, temporary fillings and decay-stopping fluoride) and 192 children were referred to a dental office for restorative treatment.
