Organizations Filed Purposes:
The Society's primary purpose is to further American understanding of Japan - its society, history, economy and culture - and of the U.S.-Japan relationship; it also endeavors to inform Japanese about the United States. In order to fulfill its goal, the Japan-America Society sponsors educational, cultural and public affairs programs as well as studies and exchanges for members and the general public.
This organization maintains an exhibit which celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Portsmouth Peace Treaty that ended the war between Japan and Russia in 1905. In addition, this organization sponsors a variety of concerts and other activities celebrating this Treaty along with the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to President Theodore Roosevelt for his efforts in ending this war.
