Organizations Filed Purposes:
THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES ITS 130 MEMBERS A FORUM THROUGH WHICH THEY, WITH STAFF, CAN: 1) COLLECTIVELY SOLVE PROBLEMS WHICH THEY FACE IN INDUSTRY AND 2) DEVELOP PROGRAMS DESIGNED TO IMPROVE THE CONDITION OF THE CONTRUCTION INDUSTRY & THEIR COMMUNITIES.
THE ORGANIZATION SUPPORTS THE ENHANCEMENT OF COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS IN NEW MEXICO THROUGH PUBLIC POLICY PROGRAMS, WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT, AND SAFETY EXCELLENCE.
THE EDUCATION PROGRAM, WHICH HAD 194 PARTICIPANTS, PROVIDES LIVE SEMINARS AS WELL AS A VIRTUAL UNIVERSITY ON IT'S WEBSITE THAT ALLOWS MEMBERS AND NON-MEMBERS TO TAKE CLASSES. THE CLASSES, WHICH ARE OFFERED IN BOTH SPANISH AND ENGLISH, INCLUDE OSHA 10 AND 30 HOUR CLASSES AND SPECIALIZED CLASSES IN SAFETY AND HAZARD COMMUNICATION ARE OFFERED. COMMUNITY AND INDUSTRY EDUCATIONAL FORUMS ARE ALSO OFFERED IN NUMEROUS AREAS OF CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES. THE ORGANIZATION OFFERS WORKFORCE SOLUTIONS BY PROMOTING CAREER OPPORTUNITIES THAT WILL ATTRACT, MOTIVATE, AND DEVELOP SKILLED WORKERS. LASTLY, THE ORGANIZATION DEVELOPED AND PROMOTED THE USE OF THE NM CONSTRUCTION & RECYCLING GUIDE WHICH OUTLINES WASTE MANAGEMENT, RECYCLING RESOURCES, AND EXAMPLES OF PROJECTS BUILT IN NM USING RECYCLED MATERIALS.
THE ORGANIZATION'S TRAINING PROGRAMS ARE FUNDED BY THE NM STATE GOVERNMENT AND PRIVATE COMPANY TRAINING INIATIVES. THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES TRAINING FOR INDUSTRY WORKERS IN VARIOUS ASPECTS OF THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY SUCH AS APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMS, SAFETY PROGRAMS, BUILDING CODE REGULATIONS, LICENSING REGULATIONS, AND VARIOUS OTHER TECHNICAL APPLICATIONS. TOTAL NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS IN VARIOUS TRAINING PROGRAMS WERE 230 IN 2019.ALSO, THE ORGANIZATION HAS PROVIDED EXTENSIVE SUPPORT IN THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A CONSTRUCTION AND ENGINEERING HIGH SCHOOL. THE ORGANIZATION SPONSORS THE ACE LEADERSHIP HIGH SCHOOL. THE HIGH SCHOOL IS A FREE CHARTER SCHOOL THAT SPECIALIZES IN PREPARING STUDENTS FOR CAREERS IN ARCHITECTURE, CONSTRUCTION AND ENGINEERING.
LEGISLATIVE PROGRAM: THE ORGANIZATION CONTRIBUTES TO A PAC FUND THAT MAKES POLITICAL CONTRIBUTIONS IN SOME YEARS AND IT LOBBIES THE NEW MEXICO STATE LEGISLATURE REGARDING ISSUES THAT AFFECT THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS CONCERNING THE STATUS OF THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY IN NM.
