Organizations Filed Purposes: The DowntownABQ MainStreet Initiative is a community redevelopment organization. Our mission is to promote and support downtowns economic, social, and creative vitality through community-driven projects and programs. A revitalized and vibrant downtown is a symbol of community economic health, local quality of life, pride, and community identity.

Downtown Grower's Market - The market is home to over 75 New Mexican growers offering the highest quality produce available in Albuquerque, along with a wide array of talented local artists and a delicious mix of prepared food artisans. Every week we feature a live band, community nonprofits, a bike valet service, and lots of community spirit! All are welcome! 48,000 individuals were served.

Art and Cultural District The Downtown Arts & Cultural District, made up of roughly 30 blocks in and around the Central Avenue corridor, works to support and promote creative work / local businesses and institutions, and increase visitors to the area. Albuquerque's Downtown is home to a unique array of assets, including artists, designers, filmmakers, galleries, museums, theaters, musicians, music venues, city festivals, restaurants, food trucks / kitchens, breweries, coffee shops, and creative entrepreneurs living and working in both formal and informal spaces. 2,000 individuals were served.

Civic Plaza Placemaking In 2015, we were awarded a $200,000 grant from Southwest Airlines, in partnership with the Project for Public Spaces, for placemaking initiatives on Civic Plaza! This Heart of the Community grant has transformed the area in front of the Convention Center into a gathering space for the community. Weve worked with the community, the City of Albuquerque, and partnered with the managers of the Convention Center, SMG, to reimagine and activate this important piece of our city. Civic Plaza was largely empty, sat unused, and was uninviting to the The collaborative process of envisioning Civic Plaza as a place of activity, engagement, and lingering began with three public input meetings in the Fall of 2014 between the DowntownABQ MainStreet Initiative, a curated group of Downtown stakeholders, and students from the University of New Mexicos CityLab. Participants identified Civic Plazas strong areas and roblem areas and then categorized their suggestions into emerging themes, including: markets and festivals, food and beverage, the arts (including music, theater, and performance), play ctivities (sports and games); infrastructural improvements (seating, lighting, and the fountain); and passive entertainment (movies and music). We utilized the public input from these three meetings in order to guide improvements and activities on the plaza. 10,000 individuals were served.
