Organizations Filed Purposes:
To catalyze teaching excellence through recognition, professional development, and community engagement.
Community Engagement Program: Through the Academy of Fellows, the Organization leads and participates in conversations about teaching and learning with many and varied components of the New Mexico community. TheOrganization aspires to be a trusted resource for teachers, parents, business leaders and policy makers on issues related to teaching and learning. This program also includes the Intel Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Teacher Grant Program, teacher grant programs provided to teachers in public, private, and charter schools for classroom supplies, educational field trips and associated in-class lessons, classroom technology and professional development. Volunteers from the Organization, grantors, and other community leaders select the projects to be funded. Sevem teachers received STEM grants and 26 teachers received teacher grants during the year.
Fellows Program: To provide recognition and awards to selected teachers in New Mexico. Selection is made through a rigorous and comprehensive process that includes teams of evaluators making site visits to schools and classrooms. Various awards, stipends, and ongoing professional development opportunities, including membership as a Golden Apple Fellow in the Golden Apple Academy are offered. Sixteen qualified teachers received awards during the year.
Professional Development Program: To provide opportunities to teachers at all levels in New Mexico to improve their practice and confer with their peers. Activities include an annual conference and small subject area institutes.
