Organizations Filed Purposes:
THE CORPORATION IS ORGANIZED EXCLUSIVELY FOR CHARITABLE PURPOSES DEFINED FOR QUALIFYING EXEMPT ORGANIZATIONS UNDER SECTION 501(C)(3) OF THE INTERNAL REVENUE CODE. THESE CHARITABLE AND EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES SUPPORT OR CREATE PROGRAMS AIMED AT PROMOTING AND ENHANCING EFFECTIVE PHILANTROPIC PARTNERSHIPS FOCUSED ON FINANCIAL LITERACY, CAPABILITY AND IMPROVEMENT, ASSET BUILDING INITIATIVES, AND THE CREATION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF PRODUCTS AND SERVICES TO SUPPORT LOWER INCOME AND IMPOVERISHED INDIVIDUALS AND COMMUNITIES; AND TO DEVELOP CIVIC, CULTURAL, HEALTH, EDUCATION, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND DIVERSIFICATION INITIATIVES TO ENHANCE THE GENERAL WELL-BEING OF RESIDENTS IN NEW MEXICO.
TO INCREASE THE IMPACT THAT NUSENDA FEDERAL CREDIT UNION HAS MADE IN THE COMMUNITY.
THE FOUNDATION RECEIVES FUNDS FROM THE W.K. KELLOGG FOUNDATION TO SUPPORT THE GROWTH OF CO-OP CAPITAL. CO-OP CAPITAL IS AN INNOVATIVE, COMMUNITY-BASED MICROLOAN PROGRAM THAT DEMOCRATIZES ACCESS TO CAPITAL FOR LOW-INCOME, WOMEN, COMMUNITIES OF COLOR, AND OTHER UNDERSERVED BORROWERS BY ENLISTING TRUSTED COMMUNITY PARTNERS TO APPROVE LOANS. NUSENDA AND PARTNERS SUPPORT BORROWERS WITH FINANCIAL EDUCATION AND, AS NEEDED, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES. THROUGH THESE STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS, CO-OP CAPITAL ALIGNS WITH NUSENDA'S MISSION TO REALIZE THE FULL POTENTIAL OF THE COMMUNITIES WE SERVE BY COLLABORATING ON INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS TO IMPROVE EDUCATION, HEALTH, SOCIAL, AND ECONOMIC CONDITIONS.
THE FOUNDATION RECEIVES FUNDS GENERATED BY THE NUSENDA CREDIT UNION COMMUNITY REWARDS PROGRAM (COMMUNITY REWARDS), WHICH IS A CONTRIBUTION DRIVEN BY MEMBER DEBIT CARD TRANSACTIONS. MEMBERS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DIRECT THE CONTRIBUTIONS TOWARDS INVESTMENTS IN FIVE FOCUS AREAS WITH SPECIFIC COMMUNITIES: EDUCATION, HEALTHCARE, THE ARTS, WILDLIFE & ENVIRONMENT, AND COMMUNITY SERVICES & SUPPORT. THESE FUNDS ARE AWARDED TO ELIGIBLE CHARITABLE ENTITIES THROUGH THE FOUNDATION.
THE FOUNDATION IS A CROSS SECTOR PARTNER IN A MULTIYEAR INITIATIVE WITH LIVING CITIES, INC. TO IMPROVE THE WELL-BEING OF ALBUQUERQUE'S LOW-INCOME COMMUNITIES THROUGH THE ALBUQUERQUE INTEGRATION INITIATIVE, A COLLECTIVE IMPACT PROJECT THAT USES ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND INNOVATION AS A MECHANISM FOR JOB CREATION AND ECONOMIC MOBILITY. THE INTEGRATION INITIATIVE BRINGS TOGETHER AS MANY LOCAL STAKEHOLDER ORGANIZATIONS AS POSSIBLE TO DRIVE BROAD CHANGE THROUGHOUT THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE. NUSENDA FOUNDATION MAINTAINS THE FUNDS FOR THE INTEGRATION INITIATIVE AS WELL AS SEVERAL OF ITS SMALLER PARTNER PROGRAMS. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, ROBIN BRULE, IS THE INTEGRATION INITIATIVE'S CHIEF STRATEGIST IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE.
