NATIVE YOUTH WELLNESS CORP PROJECT/AMERICORPS VISTA - IS A PROGRAM WHICH FOCUSES ON SOCIAL, YOUTH, AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT WITH NATIVE COMMUNITIES IN NEW MEXICO. IT CONCENTRATES ON PRESSING YOUTH DEVELOPMENT NEEDS OF NATIVE COMMUNITIES TO DEVELOP AND INCREASE THE CAPACITY OF LOCAL YOUTH RESILIENCY, HEALTH AND WELLNESS, AND PREVENTION SUPPORT USING THE AMATEUR SPORT OF SOCCER. THE PROJECT CREATES YOUTH LED POSITIVE DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS THAT SERVED OVER 2,000 YOUTH THIS YEAR.

SOCCER PROGRAMMING INCLUDING THE INDIGENOUS SOCCER CUP - WITH THE HELP OF THE NATIVE AMERICAN SOCCER PROJECT, SOUTHWEST YOUTH SERVICES PROVIDES SOCCER PROGRAMMING THROUGHOUT THE YEAR IN MANY PUEBLOS AND COMMUNITIES IN THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO. THE INDIGENOUS SOCCER CUP (ISC) IS A CULMINATION OF POSITIVE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMING FOR NATIVE YOUTH AGES 10-19, WITH EFFORTS TO PROMOTE HEALTHY LIFESTYLES. OVER THE YEARS, MORE THAN 2,000 NATIVE YOUTH FROM LOCAL, NATIONAL, AND INTERNATIONAL NATIVE COMMUNITIES HAVE JOINED SYS IN A WEEKLONG CELEBRATION OF NATIVE CULTURE, SOCCER, WELLNESS, YOUTH LEADERSHIP TRAINING, LIFE SKILLS, AND COLLEGE PREP WORKSHOPS.

NATIVE AMERICAN YOUTH INTERNSHIP PROJECT - IN PARTNERSHIP WITH UNITED HEALTHCARE, IS AN INTERNSHIP FOR HIGH SCHOOL JUNIORS AND SENIORS. THIS PROGRAM GIVES STUDENTS THE CHANCE TO EDUCATE THEIR COMMUNITIES AND PUEBLOS ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF HEALTH CARE. THE INTERNS COLLECTED INFORMATION FROM EACH EVENT HELD, WHICH ASSISTED COMMUNITIES AND INDIVIDUALS IN ENROLLING IN HEALTH CARE. INTERNS WERE GIVEN A SCHOLARSHIP BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF EVENTS THEY ATTENDED, IN ADDITION TO HOW MANY PEOPLE THEY WERE ABLE TO ASSIST TO ENROLL. AT THE END OF THE SIX-MONTH PROGRAM, IF AN INTERN REACHED OVER 100 ENROLLEES, THEY WERE GIVEN AN EDUCATION AWARD FOR FUTURE COLLEGE EXPENSES.
