TO IMPROVE THE SOCIAL, PHYSICAL, AND ECONOMIC CONDITIONS OF THE NEIGHBORHOODS LOCATED WITHIN THE ALBUQUERQUE POCKET OF POVERTY.
THE ORGANIZATION WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN SECURING ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR FORECLOSURE DEFENSE AND HOUSING COUNSELING FOR NEW MEXICO HOMEOWNERS FACING JUDICIAL FORECLOSURE IN DISTRICT COURTS. USBC WORKED WITH AND LED THE EFFORTS OF THREE NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS TO RECEIVE FUNDING FROM THE NATIONAL BOA II SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT AND DEPOSITED WITH THE NEW MEXICO IOLTA PROGRAM. THE EFFORTS RESULTED IN THE NM SUPREME COURT APPROVING A ONE-YEAR FORECLOSURE PREVENTION LEGAL ASSISTANCE PROJECT THAT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO FUND FORECLOSURE LEGAL DEFENSE OVER THE NEXT THREE YEARS. IN YEAR ONE (2017) OF THE PROJECT, USBC RECEIVED 298,918.00 TO SUPPORT THE ORGANIZATIONS HOUSING COUNSELING LOSS MITIGATION PROGRAM.
