Organizations Filed Purposes:
The mission of Artesia Arts Council is to develop and promote community interest in the arts and enrich life in Southeastern New Mexico through educational, artistic and cultural opportunities. Believing that a dynamic cultural atmosphere can be of economic as well as aesthetic value to the area by attracting industry and appealing to prospective residents, the Artesia Arts Council is created to provide the neutral ground where the total program of the Visual and Performing Arts in the area can be integrated, give direction and expanded.
Artesia Arts Council develops and promotes community interest in the arts and enriches life in Southeastern New Mexico through professional artist concerts, fine arts classes, performing arts classes, and art galleries.
The Artesia Arts Council presents the Programming Professional Series, which produced 22 live performances and events from September 1, 2018 to April 30, 2019. Each performance had an average audience of 175 with a production cost between $3,500 and $10,000.
The Educational Department of the Artesia Arts Council offers art and personal growth classes for children and adults, from individual lessons to group lessons. AAC also holds special events, such as anti-bullying and suicide prevention.In the fiscal year 2019, AAC served 45 students for drum and guitar lessons, 25 students for voice lessons and choir, 60 students for dance lessons, 50 students for theatre lessons and community theatre, 30 students for Fine Art classes and workshops, and 30 students for Jon Maxwell/ time management/ goals classes.
The Artesia Arts Council maintains 2 Fine Art Galleries, which offer 16 exhibits annually.
