PROTECTING HISTORIC PROPERTIES HISTORIC PRESERVATION (ARCHITECTURAL CONSERVATION)1. PERFORMED CONSERVATION WORK ON FOUNDATION OWNED PROPERTIES AND COMPLETED PLUMBING UPGRADES, ADOBE PLASTER REPAIRS AND EXTENSIVE PAINTING AT EL ZAGUN, 545 CANYON ROAD.2. FINALIZED AND BEGAN IMPLEMENTATION OF EL ZAGUN MASTER PLAN IN PHASED AND BUDGETED STEPS.3. FURTHER REVISION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF MASTER PLAN FOR THE GARDEN AND OUTDOOR SPACES WITH VOLUNTEER GARDENERS AT THE GARDEN AT EL ZAGUN, 545 CANYON ROAD AND CONTINUED ENGAGEMENT WITH LINDA CHURCHILL AS GARDENER FOR MAINTENANCE OF THE GARDEN ONGOING. PUT IN MOTION THE PROCESS OF DESIGNING SIGNAGE FOR THE ENTRANCE AND BUILDING AS A WHOLE.4. CONTINUED TO REFINE PROCESS FOR MONITORING AND MANAGEMENT OF ALL PRESERVATION EASEMENTS HELD BY THE FOUNDATION. OUTREACH BEGAN TO SCHEDULE ANNUAL VISITS AND INSPECTIONS WITH OWNERS OF EXISTING EASEMENTS HELD BY THE FOUNDATION.5. OVERSAW AND DOCUMENTED RESTORATION WORK UNDERWAY AT LAMY CHAPEL, A RECOGNIZED HISTORIC PROPERTY ON OUR REGISTER OF PROPERTIES WORTHY OF PRESERVATION.
RESEARCH AND EDUCATION1. CONTINUED CATALOGUING ARCHIVE MATERIALS, AND IMPLIMENTATION OF PROCESS FOR ACCESS OF THE ARCHIVES WITH SCHEDULED VOLUNTEERS. ARRANGED AND ORGANIZED ARCHIVES IN THE NEWLY CREATED ARCHIVES ROOM.2. CONTINUED TO REFINE THE DATABASE OF ARCHIVE MATERIALS TO CROSS-REFERENCE FOR MULTIPLE NAMES AND TITLES AND MADE AVAILABLE SOME OF THE MATERIALS ONLINE FOR PUBLIC ACCESS.3. CONTINUED THE MONTHLY MEMBER LECTURE SERIES, SALON EL ZAGUN. TIED MANY OF THE LECTURES TO THE MONTHLY EXHIBITONS IN THE SALA AT EL ZAGUN INCLUDING ONE OFF-SITE AT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO AT THE MUSEUM OF INDIAN ARTS AND CULTURE4. CO-HOSTED, ALONG WITH THE CITY OF SANTA FE HISTORIC PRESERVATION DIVISION AND THE OLD SANTA FE ASSOCIATION THE HERITAGE PRESERVATION AWARDS IN MAY 2019 ARRANGED LOGISTICS FOR THE EVENT AT SAN MIGUEL CHAPEL AND HELD THE RECEPTION FOLLOWING AT OUR OFFICES AT EL ZAGUN.5. PRESENTED THE ARCHITECTURAL STEWARDSHIP AWARD TO AN INDIVIDUAL(S) WHOSE WORK IS NECESSARY IN THE PRESERVATION OF HISTORIC PROPERTIES IN NORTHERN NEW MEXICO, CORNELIA AND SCOTT TOBEY FOR THE BOYLE HOUSE.6. HELD MONTHLY ART AND HISTORY EXHIBITONS AT THE GALLERY FOR EL ZAGUN RESIDENT ARTISTS AND INVITED OUTSIDE ARTISTS. ONE EXHIBITION WAS A FOUNDATION STAFF SHOW OF PAINTINGS AND PHOTOGRAPHS, AND FIVE PARTNERSHIP EXHIBITIONS WITH NONPROFIT SEARCHLIGHT NEW MEXICO, NEW MEXICO SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS, KIWANAS CLUB, 203 GALLERY IN TAOS, AND THE PALACE OF THE GOVERNORS PRESS.7. CONDUCTED A TEST CASE FOR PROPERTY NOMINATION TO THE FOUNDATIONSS HISTORIC REGISTER BY HIRING A GRAD STUDENT FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO TO RESEARCH, WRITE, AND PRESENT THE NOMINATION FOR BOARD APPROVAL THE PINO RANCH HOUSE. THE TEST PROVED SUCCESSFUL AND PLANNING BEGAN FOR INCEPTION OF THE MAC WATSON FELLOW PROGRAM ON AN ONGOING BASIS.8. PRESERVATION TRADES INTERNSHIP- CONTINUED ONGOING PROFESSIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM, THE FAITH AND JOHN GAW MEEM PRESERVATION TRADES INTERNSHIP A TEN-WEEK SUMMER PROGRAM FOR INDIVIDUALS ENROLLED IN OR RECENT GRADUATES OF GRADUATE PROGRAMS IN ARCHITECTURE OR PRESERVATION WITH HOUSING PROVIDED BY THE FOUNDATION AT OUR PARTNER ORGANIZATION SCHOOL FOR ADVANCED RESEARCH. APPLICATIONS WERE RECEIVED AND THE CHOSEN INTERN WAS A RECENT GRADUATE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO ARCHITECTURE SCHOOL, IN THE ARCHITECTURE AND THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION AND REGIONALISM PROGRAMS.- INTERN PERFORMED RESTORATION WORK AT EL RANCHO DE LAS GOLONDRINAS LIVING HISTORY MUSEUM ON THE PINO RANCH HOUSE BUILDING, REMOVING HISTORICALLY INCONSISTENT CEMENT PLASTER, RE-PLASTERING WITH TRADITIONAL MUD PLASTER, AND RE-POINTING THE STONE FOUNDATION WITH TRADITIONAL LIME MORTAR.- INTERN ASSISTED IN ONGOING MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR AT EL ZAGUAN.- INTERN PRESENTED HIS WORK TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS IN A SLIDE SHOW AND TALK, THEN GAVE A TOUR FOR DIRECTORS OF THE SITE WORK.
