Organizations Filed Purposes:
The Himalayan Stove Project is a humanitarian & philanthropic program. It is dedicated to preserving the Himalayan environment and improving the health of the people living in the trans-Himalayan region. The organization donates and distributes, free, clean-burning, fuel-efficient Envirofit stoves, transforming the lives of individuals and families who now cook with traditional, rudimentary stoves or over open fire pits inside their homes, consuming excessive amounts of precious fuel and polluting the indoor air to dangerously unhealthy levels.
The Organization has a single, on-going program: delivering clean burning, fuel efficient stoves to families in rural Nepal. The Organization started mass deliveries of fuel efficient, low polluting family domestic stoves in the spring of 2012. To date, nearly 5,000 stoves have been distributed. In addition, the organization placed 50 community level stoves for mass feeding principally in areas ravaged by the 2015 Nepal earthquake. For the year 2018, the organization distributed 530 stoves to rural Nepal families.
