Organizations Filed Purposes:
THROUGH THE SPIRIT OF RESPECT AND COOPERATION, THE NAAV WILL STRIVE TO UNIFY TRIBAL SERVICE PROGRAMS THROUGHOUT OKLAHOMA BY PROVIDING CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, TRAINING AND SUPPORT TO ELIMINATE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, STALKING AND DATING VIOLENCE TO RESTORE BALANCE AND SAFETY FOR TRIBAL COMMUNITIES.
OVW GRANTS TO TRIBAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT COALITIONS PROGRAM-THE NAAV IS A TRIBAL COALITION DEDICATED TO INCREASING AWARENESS, ENHANCING THE RESPONSE TO VIOLENCE, PROVIDING TECHNICAL ASSITANCE AND ASSISTING TRIBES ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSUALT, DATING VIOLENCE, STALKING AND SEX TRAFFICKING ISSUES IN INDIAN COUNTRY. THE NAAV IS AVAILABLE TO ALL 38 TRIBES THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA. TWENTY-FIVE OF THE TRIBAL GOVERNMENTS HAVE PROGRAMS THAT ARE DEDICATED TO SERVING VICTIMS OF CRIME. THE NAAV IS DEDICATED TO INCREASING THE AWARENESS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, DATING VIOLENCE, STALKING AND SEX TRAFFICKING. IN FY2018, THE 4TH ANNUAL GATHERING OF VOICES: ADDRESSING SEXUAL ASSAULT IN INDIAN COUNTRY WAS HELD IN COLLABORATION WITH THE CHOCTAW NATION SEXUAL ASSAULT RESPONSE TEAM AT THE CHOCTAW NATION EVENT CENTER. THE EVENT, HELD IN APRIL, WAS A SUCCESS WITH 99 INDIVIDUALS FROM THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND VICTIM SERVICE ORGANIZATION IN ATTENDANCE. IN ADDITION, THE NAAV HELD THE ANNUAL DAY OF UNITY: UNIFY TO CHANGE: A CHANGE OF VIOLENCE TO ONE OF RESPECT, IN COLLABORATION WITH THE SEMINOLE NATION DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PROGRAM. THE EVENT HELD IN OCTOBER WAS ATTENDED BY APPROXIMATELY 100 MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC, VICTIM SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS AND THE LOCAL PRESS.
THE NAAV ENHANCES THE RESPONSE TO VIOLENCE AGAINST INDIAN WOMEN AT THE TRIBAL, FEDERAL, AND STATE LEVELS. THE NAAV ACCOMPLISHED THIS BY OFFERING AND DEVELOPING 11 REGIONAL TRANINGS THROUGHOUT OKLAHOMA INDIAN COUNTRY, FOUR OF THOSE WERE IN COLLABORATION WITH PARTNERSHIP AGENCIES. THE NAAV HELD ON ANNUAL SUMMIT NOVEMBER 14-16, 2018 IN TULSA, OK AND PARTICIPATED IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PARTNERS FOR CHANGE CONFERENCE ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT AND STALKING, SEPTEMBER 12-13 IN NORMAN, OK.
THE NAAV PROVIDES TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO COALITION MEMBERSHIP AND TRIBAL COMMUNITIES TO ENHANCE ACCESS TO SERVICES TO VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE. DURING 2018 THE NAAV DELIVERED 148 TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE REQUESTS RECEIVED FROM TRIBAL GOVERNMENTS, STATE AGENCIES, TRIBAL AND NON-TRIBAL LAW ENFORCEMENT, TRIBAL COURTS AND TRIBAL COALITIONS. IN ADDITION, THE NAAV CONDUCTED 3 SITE VISITS TO TRIBAL DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE PROGRAMS.
