Organizations Filed Purposes: To strengthen, improve, promote, and support Norman Regional Health System by providing the highest quality of service to the Health System, patients, community, and one another.

Promote and support Norman Regional Health System.

The Norman Regional Auxiliary has been promoting and advancing the welfare of Norman Regional Health System since its founding members organized in October 1951. Through the tireless work of the Auxiliary Executive Board and its many members, the Norman Regional Auxiliary provides services to the hospital, its patients and their loved ones. For over 30 years, Norman Regional staff and volunteers have sponsored Kids Are Special People. Each of the 3,400+ students receive a take-home packet of information that further supports the educational topics they learn about during their visit. The packet includes items such as a jump rope, hand sanitizer, healthy eating tips, word finds on tobacco dangers, and other fun medical goodies.Through a grant to Norman Regional Health System, Kids Are Special People provided an educational field trip each fall for approximately 1,600 third graders in Norman and 1,800 4th graders in Moore Public Schools. Norman Regional Health System collaborates with Norman and Moore Public Schools, several private schools, and surrounding community school districts to offer this half day field trip each year. During their trip to NRHS, students attend brief sessions about the dangers of tobacco, signs of stroke and heart attack, cyber safety, emergency care, exercise, and healthy eating. Kids Are Special People allow third and fourth graders to come to a hospital setting under the conditions of a safe, fun environment. Each session is taught by a skilled medical or emergency expert. The sessions teach the children about personal wellness, but also about potentially lifesaving situations in which they should call 911. Our hope is that when the kids leave and return to school, they will be able to identify stroke and heart attack signs, the dangers of using tobacco, when to call 911, and what will happen once emergency personnel arrive.
