THE MYRIAD BOTANICAL GARDENS' MISSION IS TO CREATE A BEAUTIFUL BOTANICAL GARDEN AND URBAN PARK WITH A DIVERSITY OF YEAR-ROUND HORTICULTURAL, CULTURAL AND RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS AND EVENTS TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE IN OKLAHOMA CITY. OUR PRIMARY PROGRAMS OFFER EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS THAT TEACH ALL AGES ABOUT PLANTS, GARDENING AND CONSERVATION. THESE PROGRAMS INCLUDE HANDS-ON EDUCATIONAL CLASSES FOR SCHOOLS THAT FOCUS ON OUR OUTDOOR GARDENS AS WELL AS TROPICAL PLANTS IN OUR CRYSTAL BRIDGE CONSERVATORY. WE OFFER DOZENS OF GARDENING PROGRAMS, FROM COMPOSTING AND SEED STARTING TO PRUNING, GARDEN DESIGN AND PLANTS FOR POLLINATORS AND MUCH MORE. WE OFFER AN ANNUAL GARDENING SCHOOL ATTENDED BY HUNDREDS THAT FOCUS ON SUSTAINABLE GARDENDING FOR OKLAHOMA. IN ADDITION TO HORTICULTURAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS, WE OFFER SEASONAL BOTANICAL FESTIVALS INCLUDING ORCHID SHOWS AND FALL HARVEST AND HOLIDAY FESTIVALS. WE ALSO OFFER A DIVERSITY OF CULTURAL EVENTS THAT INCLUDE CONCERTS, PLAYS, DANCE, BOOKS FESTIV
TO SUPPORT THE MYRIAD BOTANICAL GARDENS OF OKLAHOMA CITY BY PROVIDING FUNDING, OPERATING MANAGEMENT SUPPORT, AND INCREASING PUBLIC AWARENESS, SUPPORT AND INVOLVEMENT, AND PROMOTING THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE STANDARDS.
OUR TOP THREE PROGRAM AREAS ARE: 1. PLANT COLLECTIONS: CREATING BEAUTIFUL AND EDUCATIONAL OUTDOOR AND INDOOR PLANT COLLECTIONS TO TEACH ALL AGES ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF PLANTS AND GARDENING IN OUR DAILY LIVES. OUR OUTDOOR GARDENS ALSO ARE DESIGNED TO EDUCATE VISITORS ABOUT PLANTS THAT DO WELL IN THIS REGION, ESPECIALLY NATIVE PLANTS AND PLANTS THAT HELP SUSTAIN POLLINATORS. 2. HORTICULTURAL EDUCATION: OFFER HORTICULTURAL CLASSES, WORKSHOPS, AND SPECIAL DISPLAYS TO TEACH ALL AGES ABAOUT PLANTS, GARDENING, AND ENCOURAGING THEM TO BECOME SUCCESSFUL GARDENERS; 3. COMMUNITY EVENTS: OFFER CULTURAL AND RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS TO MAKE THE GARDENS AND DOWNTOWN OKC MORE VIBRANT AND DYNAMIC.
