CAMP FIRE HEART OF OKLAHOMA CREATES FUN AND POWERFUL OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL YOUTH TO ACTIVELY LEARN FROM PERSONAL SUCCESSES, PEER ENGAGEMENT AND EXPLORATION IN A SAFE, UNPLUGGED ENVIRONMENT, INSPIRING AN APPRECIATION FOR THE OUTDOORS AND A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF HOW THESE SKILLS CONNECT TO THEIR COMMUNITY AND FUTURE.
CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOCAL YOUTH TO LEARN FROM PERSONAL SUCCESSES, PEER ENGAGEMENT AND EXPLORATION IN A SAFE, UNPLUGGED ENVIRONMENT.
CAMPS & OUTDOOR EDUCATION - IN TODAY'S CULTURE OUTSIDE EXPERIENCES CAN BE LIMITED. CAMP FIRE UNDERSTANDS THE IMPORTANCE OF TIME IN NATURE, EXPLORING THE OUTDOORS AND LEARNING ABOUT ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP. THROUGH OUR 33-ACRE CAMPGROUND IN OKLAHOMA CITY, CAMP DAKANI, WE OFFER SCREEN-FREE TRADITIONAL SUMMER CAMPS, SPRING BREAK CAMP, A CAMP FOR CHILDREN WITH AUTISM, AS WELL AS OUTDOOR EDUCATIONAL FIELD TRIPS FOR LOCAL CLASSROOMS. CAMP FIRE COLLABORATES WITH NUMEROUS OTHER LOCAL NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS TO REACH OUR COMMUNITY'S DISADVANTAGED AND/OR SPECIAL NEEDS YOUTH AND OFFER THE SAME LIFE-CHANGING EXPERIENCES ENJOYED BY THEIR PEERS. CAMP FIRE ALSO PARTNERS WITH MORE THAN 30 ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOLS IN THE GREATER OKC METRO AREA TO BRING STUDENTS' TEXTBOOKS TO LIFE IN NATURE. WE DELIVER TEAMBUILDING AND HANDS-ON SCIENCE ACTIVITIES, AND WE GET KIDS MOVING THROUGH PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES.
OUTREACH - COMMUNITY OUTREACH PLAYS A KEY ROLE WITH CAMP FIRE PROGRAMS. OUR YEAR-ROUND SERVICE-LEARNING CLUBS ARE WHAT MOST OF OUR ALUMNAE FROM CAMP FIRE GIRLS REMEMBER FONDLY. A CLUB PAIRS A TRAINED, VOLUNTEER LEADER WITH A GROUP OF YOUTH WHO WORK THROUGH A CAMP FIRE CURRICULUM THROUGHOUT THEIR TIME WITH US. CLUBS TYPICALLY TAKE YOUTH ON FIELD TRIPS TO LEARN FROM COMMUNITY LEADERS, HELP THEM UNDERTAKE SERVICE PROJECTS AND DO OTHER ACTIVITIES THAT ENABLE YOUTH TO FIND THEIR SPARK, LIFT THEIR VOICE AND DISCOVER WHO THEY ARE AND WHO THEY WANT TO BECOME.
COMMUNITY PROGRAMS - AS A COMMUNITY SERVICE DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR, CAMP FIRE OFFERS EVIDENCE-BASED AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS TO UNDER-SERVED LOCAL SCHOOLS. ADMINISTRATORS CHOOSE CAMP FIRE BECAUSE WE ARE LASER-FOCUSED ON HELPING STUDENTS THRIVE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE CLASSROOM. OUR INTENTIONAL ACTIVITIES ARE DESIGNED TO BUILD LIFE SKILLS, SUCH AS CONFLICT MANAGEMENT AND HEALTH AND WELLNESS, AS WELL AS EXPERIENCE IN STEM AND CREATIVE ARTS. CAMP FIRE ALSO OFFERS MULTIPLE TEEN LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES TO ENSURE OUR FUTURE LEADERS ARE ENGAGED WITH EACH OTHER AND OUR COMMUNITY, RATHER THAN WITH THEIR ELECTRONICS. TEENS AFLAME IS OUR COMPREHENSIVE, YOUTH-DRIVEN OUTDOOR PROGRAM FOR KIDS AGES 11-17, AND WE OFFER AN INCLUSIVE TEEN LEADERSHIP CLUB CALLED RUGGED OUTDOOR CHALLENGE WHICH INCLUDES TEEN-LED WEEKEND ADVENTURE TRIPS.
