Organizations Filed Purposes: Our Mission is for All Oklahoma families to have access to quality care and education for their children through community-based resource and referral services; with a vision of Oklahoma communities supporting the development and learning of all children.

Mission or Most Significant ActivitiesWe do whatever it takes to make child care work for families, children and providers. We give families peace of mind by equipping them with information on affordable child care options, free referrals and parent consumer education so they know how to find quality care for their child(ren). We provide training and on-site technical assistance to child care providers to meet the needs of the children in their care and to improve the quality of that care. We serve as a community resource for parents and providers with the goal of safe, healthy and happy kids!

The Oklahoma Child Care Resource and Referral Association (OCCRRA) is the lead organization to guide and administer a statewide network of child care resource and referral agencies (CCR&R). The Network serves communities by providing information, referrals, assistance, and consulting that improves the quality, affordability, and accessibility of licensed child care.In fiscal year 2020, the network supported families by serving 3,223 children ages 0-12 throughout the state of Oklahoma with free child care referrals and by responding to 3,223 free requests to find quality child care to meet their needs. The CCR&R Network supports child care programs and providers by offering free consultation to enhance the quality of care. While assisting providers in their efforts to offer age-appropriate learning experiences in a healthy, safe environment that meets licensing requirements, the network offers support and best practices on how to provide a quality early learning environment. This environment is linked to Oklahoma Core Competencies and Early Learning Guidelines. This year the network provided 1,239 hours of technical assistance to child care providers; and offered 914 hours of certified training which was completed by 5,581 participants. During the FY19 the network implemented a new program; the Oklahoma Right Start Infant Toddler Program. This program focuses on infants and toddlers, interacting directly with child care teachers in classrooms of children 0-2 years old. The ORS Infant Toddler Program provided 3,625 hours of technical assistance during the 2020 fiscal year. Each year we provide up-to-date data and reports on child care for each of Oklahomas 77 counties along with a cumulative for the entire state. OCCRRAs Child Care and Early Education Portfolio containing this data is published on our website annually and a state summary is printed for distribution bi-annually. We are proud to keep community leaders informed on what child care looks like in their neighborhood and to enable decision-makers to create better policies for continuous improvements in Oklahomas child care system.OCCRRA has been the recipient for two years of a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to increase access to child care through subsidy. We have worked with a local PR firm to create social media ads to engage and connect parents to child care programs and child care subsidy. Another part of the grant is to engage and advocate to state and federal legislators regarding child care funding. A one-page info-graphic is created each year to display how Oklahoma has invested the federal and state dollars to improve the child care system for families and providers. Often face to face meetings with staffers in DC occur and at the state capitol. With dedication the OCCRRA network works to support a child care system that serves all of Oklahomas children.
