Organizations Filed Purposes: THE PRIMARY GOAL OF THE OKLAHOMA HUMANE SOCIETY IS TO END THE NEEDLESS EUTHANASIA OF ADOPTABLE PETS IN OKLAHOMA. THROUGH ITS PARTNERSHIP WITH THE OKLAHOMA CITY ANIMAL SHELTER, THE ORGANIZATION IS ABLE TO TRANSFER DOGS AND CATS AT RISK OF EUTHANASIA INTO ITS ADOPTION AND RELOCATION PROGRAMS. THROUGH ITS SPAY AND NEUTER PROGRAM, THE ORGANIZATION PREVENTS THE BIRTH OF UNWANTED PETS AND HELPS REDUCE INTAKE AT THE OKLAHOMA CITY ANIMAL SHELTER. HUMANE EDUCATION PROGRAMS PROMOTE COMPASSION TOWARD ANIMALS AND TEACH RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP. THE ORGANIZATION HAS A STATEWIDE INITIATIVE THAT IS TARGETING RURAL COMMUNITIES TO REDUCE PET OVERPOPULATION THROUGH SPAY/NEUTER, VACCINES AND EDUCATION.

THE OKLAHOMA HUMANE SOCIETY EXISTS TO ENRICH THE COMMUNITIES IT SERVES BY PROMOTING THE WELL-BEING OF ANIMALS.

SPAY & NEUTER AND IN-HOUSE CLINICS: IN AN EFFORT TO REDUCE THE BIRTH OF UNWANTED PETS AND INTAKE AT THE OKLAHOMA CITY ANIMAL SHELTER, THE OKLAHOMA HUMANE SOCIETY HAS A HIGH VOLUME, LOW COST SPAY AND NEUTER CLINIC THAT PERFORMS SURGERIES ON PETS PLACED THROUGH THE ADOPTION PROGRAM, PUBLICLY OWNED PETS AND FREE ROAMING CATS. IN 2019, THE CLINIC PERFORMED 13,250 SPAY OR NEUTER SURGERIES AND OFFERED LOW COST VACCINATION SERVICES, MICROCHIPPING AND OTHER WELLNESS SERVICES.

INTAKE PROGRAM: THE INTAKE PROGRAM IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PROCESSING THE INITIAL INTAKE OF ALL DOGS AND CATS ENTERING THE ADOPTION AND RELOCATION PROGRAMS. THIS INCLUDES MEDICAL AND BEHAVIORAL EVALUATION AND ANY REQUIRED MEDICAL PROCESSES SUCH AS VACCINATION, HEARTWORM TESTING, FLEA/TICK TREATMENT AND MICROCHIPPING. IN 2019, THE INTAKE PROGRAM WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR PROCESSING 4,492 DOGS AND CATS.

ADOPTION: IN 2019, ALMOST 18,000 DOGS AND CATS WERE RECEIVED AT THE OKLAHOMA CITY ANIMAL SHELTER AND APPROXIMATELY 20% WERE EUTHANIZED. TO SAVE ANIMALS AT RISK OF EUTHANASIA, OKLAHOMA HUMANE SOCIETY TRANSFERS THEM INTO ITS ADOPTION AND RELOCATION PROGRAMS.
