Organizations Filed Purposes: PARTNERING WITH HOMELESS FAMILIES TO EDUCATE THEIR CHILDREN AND CREATE PATHWAYS TO SUCCESS.

POSITIVE TOMORROWS IS AN EDUCATION AND FAMILY SUPPORT CENTER PROVIDING SERVICES TO HOMELESS AND VERY LOW INCOME CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES.

POSITIVE TOMMOROWS IS OKLAHOMA'S ONLY PRIVATE, TUITION-FREE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL THAT SPECIFICALLY SERVES HOMELESS CHILDREN. OUR EDUCATION PROGRAM PROVIDES A TRAUMA-INFORMED, DIFFERENTIATED EDUCATION TO STUDENTS GRADES PRE-K - 6, AND REMOVES BARRIERS TO LEARNING LIKE FOOD, TRANSPORATION, SCHOOL SUPPLIES, MEDICAL CARE AND BASIC NECESSITIES. HOMELESS STUDENTS ARE 1-2 YEARS BEHIND BOTH ACADEMICALLY AND SOCIALLY, SO OUR CERTIFIED TEACHERS CREATE PERSONALIZED EDUCATIONAL PLANS FOR STUDENTS AND ALSO FOCUS ON SOCIAL GROWTH. OUR GOAL IS NOT TO SERVE EVERY CHILD FROM PRE-K - 6TH GRADE, BUT TO HELP STUDENTS CATCH UP EMOTIONALLY AND ACADEMICALLY SO THAT THEY CAN SUCCESSFULLY TRANSITION BACK INTO THE PUBLIC SCHOOL PROGRAM. THIS YEAR POSITIVE TOMORROWS SERVED 118 STUDENTS IN ITS EDUCATION PROGRAM AND PROVIDED 29,601 BUS RIDES, 36,059 MEALS, AND 13,579 BASIC NECESSITIES.

POSITIVE TOMORROWS HOSTS AN EXTRACURRICULAR PROGRAM THAT CONSISTS OF A DAILY AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM AND DAY CAMPS DURING SUMMER, FALL, WINTER AND SPRING BREAKS. THE EXTRACURRICULAR PROGRAM PROVIDES A SAFE PLACE FOR CHILDREN TO STAY DURING AFTER-SCHOOL AND SCHOOL BREAK HOURS, AND PROVIDES ACCESS TO OPPORTUNITIES LIKE MUSEUM VISITS, ART CLASSES, MUSIC LESSONS, SCOUTING, SCIENCE, SWIMMING LESSONS, BOXING LESSONS, GOLF, BALLET, YOGA, BASKETBALL, AND MORE. THIS YEAR 104 STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS, AND 167 PARTICIPATED IN BREAK CAMPS.

WHILE STUDENTS LEARN IN THE CLASSROOM, OUR FAMILY SUPPORT DEPARTMENT WORKS WITH FAMILIES TO TEACH THEM HOW TO BECOME SELF-SUFFICIENT. OUR CASE MANAGERS ASSESS FAMILIES' IMMEDIATE NEEDS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, AND SHELTER FIRST; THEN FOCUS ON LONG-TERM PLANNING. CASE MANAGERS HELP FAMILIES INCREASE THEIR INCOME, EMPLOYMENT, AND ULTIMATELY AIM TO HELP THEM OBTAIN STABLE HOUSING. BY FOCUSING ON THE ENTIRE FAMILY, WE MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR CHILDREN TO LEARN. THIS YEAR WE SERVED 73 FAMILIES. 46% OF FAMILIES MAINTAINED OR IMPROVED THEIR EMPLOYMENT STATUS, 91% IMPROVED OR MAINTAINED STABLE HOUSING, AND 59% SHOWED AN INCREASE IN INCOME LEVELS. 281 HEALTH CHECKUPS WERE PROVIDED AND 956 MENTAL HEALTH NEEDS WERE MET.
